It basically boils down to the fact that the incumbent politicians will say anything to keep their hallowed positions. Fred Mitchell is a disaster and for all his education acts like a true third world jungle politician. All jslands face the same challenges with fuel, and the changing of accounts to Sun Service. Local garages are unwilling to give credit because of the record of faceless civil servants delaying payment. Thank God the ambulance services are mostly operated on a voluntary basis and have funds to pay their own fuel bills

I am a bachelor for a few weeks and as such had to go shopping for food and what an eye opener it was.. The prices border on ridiculous and God knows what a person on minimum wage eats . Added to that local merchants NEVER pass on any reductions in duty and have already boosted their profits by the rounding up of every 1/2 cent to he next cent. Price inspectors where are you. Examples: 3 pre-packaged ears of sweet corn already starting to dry up $4.25. Price USA 3 for a $1.00 or less. Lettuce passed sell by date-outer leaves removed $3.00. Everybody looses except the merchant. Local restaurant Expensive meal + VAT + 18% service charge. Half a glass of cheap wine ($5.00 in liquor store) $9.00 vat + service. Politicians and merchants are killing this country with lack foresight

Such commonsense where has he been hiding. Compulsory service charge means no incentive to give that little extra.

Never passed along as we are paying for years of overpriced and inefficient electricity supplies by overpaid workers with total lack of foresight for future planning.

Lets face it our politicians are incompetent and act like third world dictators. Bahamar is just a further example of little men with a misplaced patriotism trying to take on the big boys. Companies like Rosewood don't need the Bahamas and have shown that. Keep on threatening investors Mr big shot Fred , you are doing a great job of dissuading new investors. I am not a financial wiz but could see this downgrade coming and by the way please stop lying that the Bahamian dollar is on a par with the US dollar. That only applies to someone spending here. The Bahamian dollar is worth about 96 cents to the US dollar. Worse is to come unless they swallow their pride and realize that the Bahamas is a speck on the world map and there are plenty of other places to go.

It amazes me how this " proud of being Bahamian" takes precedence over common sense. Doesn't the Prime Minister and Siamese twin 'Fred' realise that they are playing with the big boys and third world politics have no place when dealing with the nations survival. What's next ? Downgrading of credit rating, devaluation ??????

Would like to suggest that electric chair is not an option in the Bahamas as there would surely be a power outage before or during the execution.

Wouldn't it have been better to simply use the 13 million dollars for a small regular pay check

Unbelievable statement. Mediocrity is the name of the game. On Eleuthera power outages are infrequent but still happen, The water board seems incapable of providing a regular water supply and now it seems that we have to bring in an American company to sort things out in Nassau. Whatever happened to being able to run our own country after so many years of independence ? If , and its a big "if "that this new management team can reduce power costs by 40% why can't Mr Miller and his team do the same thing. And while we are at it please bring in a capable manager of W & S in Central Eleuthera who might have some idea of preventative maintenance and forward thinking.
