Does the prime Minister ever take note of these concerns ? When you take the 10% tax +VAT + realtor commission plus lawyers fees plus registration fees you may as well burn the property down. How short sighted. A property is only worth what the market dictates not what it was 10 years ago. Who are the desk pushing idiots who try this nonsense?. Mr Minnis and your Cabinet take some action use your authority and commonsense after all as the letter writer stated a thriving property market brings in revenue streams from many other related sources.

You are totally deluded in that the Bahamas cannot be replicated anywhere else. Try Goa in India, sandy beaches, palm trees and MUCH Much cheaper, tryTrinidad and Tabago. Its this we are special that has led to a complacency over the years whilst other countries have surged ahead. If you really believe that the world and for that matter tourists actually care about you inaccurate and head in the sand beliefs then carry on. Tourist arrivals decline annually and ask yourself why if the Bahamas is so perfect ?

Why in this age do we still have mounds of paperwork in government institutions. Why do we have bank employees that count money by hand. Have a national database whereby all drivers are entered with insurance and road license renewal dates and plate numbers. In the UK a camera on a police car records every car passing, instantly compares the tag with a national database and then the police can determine whether it is legally on the road. The initial cost would soon be recouped by fines ,increased collection of fees and auctioning off seized cars.

What do you expect from a system so mired in cultural inefficiency that real changes are never made. On Eleuthera recently (and bear in mind BGCSE and BGC exams are fast approaching) there was school on Monday disrupted by taking chairs to workers house.Tuesday school closed for awards ceremony. Wednesday school.Thursday 1/2 for sports in Rock Sound.Fridays school closed for sports day in Rock Sound. Add to that throughout the year school closing early for staff meetings , no water visiting speakers and band practice three times a week, are you surprised that so many students struggle ?

Birdie you seem to conveniently forget that the PLP squandered the VAT money and saddled this country with huge debt leaving the new government the hard job of trying to get the country in a position where new infrastructure can commence and with a fair and transparent bidding process.

So many expats want to pay their property taxes but often find the red tape almost impossible.

Maybe Dear Fweddy would like to explain how numerous delegations visited Central Eleuthera to do numerous ground breakings for the new (pie in the sky) hospital. The land was purchased
from a prominent Bahamian and months of tractor work said to cost in excess of $900,000 to excavate, cut, reduce the hill to a level surface. There is now enough curry to pave the entire Bahamas. Just think what a couple of million of wasted dollars could have done Fred--Oh sorry you have selective memory issues.

Someone in power do something.n Winter residents and prospective investors are at the end of their patience.

How the hell can this fat idiot blame this government when they hired thousands just before the election. There are 52 weekers working in one government facility who do absolutely nothing except look at their phones and dash for lunch. Brave Davies nobody wants unemployment but how can you hire unqualified persons for positions that don't exist and expect their wages to come from the magic money tree. This country is deep in debt because of the cronyism, and GROSS incompetance of the PLP and you still don't get it. Go away.
