I suppose Firzgerald trying to get all the contracts with Bahi Mar citing his fathers $20,000 a month medical bills has nothing to do with his greed. A disgusting individual and a disgrace as Minister of Education. What total hypocrisy that he would preach to school children about working hard for their future when he was doing his level best along with Maynard to grab all for himself. Good on you Mr Bannister.
Certainly any planning (or lack of) on the part of the last government was woeful to say the least. A simple analogy would be a father promising his son or daughter a brand new corvette for Christmas when he knows he has no money. National Health would be an example. Come visit Eleuthera if you want to see monumental waste of money and failure to plan. There is a mountain of curry excavated to provide a level area for the promised construction of a new hospital. I am told that tractors and trucks have been ripping a hill for months at huge cost and they are not near to starting the foundations. What a joke. Money better spent on new beds and facilities in Nassau where all serious medical cases will be sent anyway.
Its NOT the PLP or FNM money it belongs to the citizens of the Bahamas and as such we the public need to squeeze every drop of value out of each dollar/ No tenders means paying more for a service and only benefiting these disgusting individuals.
When you consider that taking just one example (Damian Gomez) , that he could pay his light bill with just a couple of hours legal work. Also one Minister said "I didn't ask to be on the list". fair enough but by the same token if he had a conscious he would have asked to be taken off the list. How does any MP rationalize the Bahamian public struggling to pay bills and acutely aware that there are thousands of disconnections and accept such generous terms himself. Expose them all by name including persons who ae not MP's. They are disgusting. I especially am disgusted by Fitzgerald who made the excuse that he was trying to get contracts with Bahi Mar because of his fathers medical bills. Guess he forgot the 2 million + contract daddy Fitzgerald got without tender. And this is the man/thug who preached to kids to work hard, study hard to get ahead all the while doing his level best to take all for himself.
You spout so much nonsense its easy to see why the PLP could get away with what they did. List the delinquent names and its a political witch hunt , don't name them and he is at fault.
What about the fishermen, construction workers, all the Hatiens being paid cash. "Under the table" is a common British phrase. So much for a job legally but cheaper for cash. Additionally, merchants never seem to pass on savings, and we are being double and triple taxed already with VAT.
Reduction in import duty is only effective if the savings are passed along and we all know that especially on the family islands many stores simply pocket the extra cash. As for the National 1Health anybody with half a brain knew that wasn't feasible. Take central Eleuthera where close to a million dollars has been spent simply to rip a hill to provide a hospital. Why do we practice jungle economics and start these grandiose schemes that cannot be afforded. If you can,t staff and stock regular clinics how the hell can you operate all these so called island hospitals. Time to get real.
