Oh thank you for saying what I have always said. If there is this powerful God why can he not prevent the storm ? If he can't prevent the storm then he sure as hell can't do much about what happens afterwards.
Many good ideas but I equate the problems being faced by the FNM with the aftermath of the flooding and destruction in Texas. Many problems can be solved such as reducing wasteful expenditure, firing over retirement age individuals and so on but you are asking the Government to do so much when the last corrupt lot left such huge debt. The post office comment is right on point with mail often never delivered or magazines being stolen for employees own benefit.I know as one annual subscription to an international newspaper was traced to Nassau but I never received one copy. Another annual subscription to a magazine resulted in me getting one copy. And this corruption doesn't only go on in the P.O.
The reality is that is you knew the right person you could walk right out of industry into the classroom -FACT. There is one school where a music teacher is unqualified but used to drive a jitney. That being said the practical subjects are always short of teacher so why not encourage above average BTVI woodwork, Small engine, plumbing, electrical students to enter the profession whilst completing a part time course at COB. Much better than disinterested Cubans who simply accrue as much wealth as possible to take back whilst spending as little as possible.
Our good old Deputy Director specifically recruited Cuban teachers even when it wasn't their subject speciality and local experienced teschers were retired.and willing. Not only do Cubans not integrate they also simply come for the money. And their exam results are often very poor.
Most of this violence is between ill educated black youths but don't worry TaRussell despite your incoherent ramblings I can assure you that very soon most of the white/foreign folks will have left. You only have to look at Eleuthera where almost every foreign owned property is for sale. And once they are gone you and the few racist Bahamians can celebrate by handing out food and supplies to all the unemployed maids, builders shopkeepers, caretakers, painters, gardeners and handymen who will not have a job. Already a common complaint of visitors is about prices, poor service and a homeowner who said to me the authorities are making it more and more difficult and expensive to live here. Just remember this "blame the white guy" tting that rears its head every so often by a few racist Bahamians is making potential investors very wary and also remember there are many other countries with sea and sunshine that are cheaper and welcome foreign investment.
So very true. As a (dare I say it lest TaRussell has another mental episode) foreign teacher having taught here for over 30 years I was always surprise how even the smallest petit girl of boy had no reaction to being beaten on the hands with a cane or BEC insulated cable. It showed how conditioned they were to punishment and pain.
When will they take down these stupid inaccurate signs advertising duty free liquor when so much of it is cheaper with tax in the USA. Why are we paying so much for locally produced beer such as Kalik. If anybody wants one of many reasons why tourism is down is the beyond belief prices in this country. $2.00 for a tomato, almost $10 for a bag of apples. $54 for a case of Kalik platinum beer. Nobody seems to monitor the price gouging especially in the Family islands and given that fuel prices are historically low what will prices be like when oil prices go up.?
One born every minute. Anyway I am starting a scheme where you pay me $500 for a return on 1000 coconut trees that will be planted next year. Investors will be assured of a return of $2000 in the not to distant future. Please apply to the fairy godfather, cloud avenue, planet earth.
There is no easy solution as long as you have young ill educated unemployed young men but maybe cameras like they have everywhere in the UK being placed in crime hot spots might be a start.
