Your political stooges who have placed this country on a political knife edge had no authority to pay over the odds to unqualified political devotees without any fair bidding how the hell can you defend them /

So for 1/8th of what they paid this political stooge they could have insured everything and been reimbursed the 31 million. Heads need to roll and this Ash guy must be ordered to provide detailed accounting of just how this money was spent. And still fools in our area believe in the PLP when they can see a few getting rich at their expense. Brain dead.

We already have Primary Health care which are the existing clinics. Why not centralize facilities in Nassau and purchase and operate a small number of medivac planes on some islands. It is a fact that none of these so called mini hospitals will be able do anything of substance and will still send people to Nassau. Its this refusal to accept reality and put on a show that is the downfall of this country.

What a total dickhead. I want a top of the line Escalade but I can't afford it so guess what I don't buy it. On Eleuthera huge amounts of money are being spent just preparing the land for construction of a so called mini hospital. Land purchased from a former PLP cabinet member. Why not modernize, repair, and update the existing clinic because at the end of the day if you can't staff other island clinics and areas of PMH how the hell will you staff let alone afford to operate a mini hospital. Surely the country cannot afford this 30 million project and would be better spent centralizing facilities in Nassau and making emergency transportation to Nassau more affordable.

Based on one of her excuses that revenue did not meet rental expenditure, I guess every Bahmian business not making a profit can negotiate a reduced business and VAT rate to help them out. A as for documentation, we all know that these crooked dealings are done under the table, word of mouth, threats etc.

I guess we will blame the foreigners for the next 30-40 years. Simple Mr Miller third world politics where you waste money on all sorts of worthless schemes such as expensive clinics that do not open (Exuma), exorbitant salaries for PLP hirings (Baltron Bethel) MP's that don't pay their electricity bills (Mr Leslie Miller), unsecured loans for certain people from BOB and not repaid and lastly the total inability to plan for the future .I think Christies was quite clever because if the new company failed he could blame them and if they succeeded he could have taken the credit. As for Chairman of water and sewerage maybe he would like to live in central Eleuthera which frequently goes for days on end with no water yet they have no problem billing for a lousy 4th world service. Lastly the PLP government borrowed so much money despite VAT and a raft of other tax rises and made so many political hirings that any new government has its hands tied. The PLP operated like a brain dead resident who buys a brand new $30,000 car when his roof is leaking, giving no thought to retraint, accountability and prioritizing his spending..

I totally agree. The gaming shops have made some Bahamians incredibly wealthy on the backs of struggling Bahamians. As for BAMSI, why the hell are they growing vegetables/fruit that the average Bahamian farmer has been growing for years and is an expert. Why not teach/experiment growing the stuff that is imported and expensive such as Romaine Lettuce at $10 a pack?

Many foreign homeowners have tried to pay the existing tax but simply cannot find anybody in authority to give it to. As for private homes for rental, Eleuthera is saturated with them and this is not fair to any legally licensed hotel which had to pay all sorts of fees to the government which adds to the cost of a room.

Look at the last PLP minister of Health. He could barely string two words together let alone a sentence. As for corruption there is plenty of that on the family islands. I was told that on one family island a senior employee rented one of her cars to the local clinic/Ministry of health for months to the extent that a new car could have been bought with the same money. Political cronyism at its best.

" Duty free shopping " yes there are signs everywhere but this is another Bahamian dream world where you try and con the visitors that there really is a bargain to be had. Take liquor for example---cheaper in a high street shop in the states after tax than in a so called duty free liquor store here. People are after bargains and they are few and far between in the Bahamas.
As for Bay street -one end full of tee shirt, jewellery and liquor shops and the other looking like Alepo on a good day. No music, very few if any places to relax and have a drink after 5.30, so why would a cruise ship passenger want to enjoy Bay Street.
