This vaccine is not brand new but developed from work done on Ebola and Sars vaccines..Of course science did this as it did in polio, diptheria, rabies, HIV smallpox vacicnes etc etc. Correct it does not stop you getting covid nor stopping you passing it on , BUT it does prevent in almost all cases hospitilization for severe symptoms and more importantly intensive care.. The media including Facebook, Twitter, newspapers etc have given free range for so many false, misleading and plain scaremongering. .People need to take responsibility for their choices and not expect to jepordise the health, safety and livelihood because they want the rules changed.

Like the Laptops sent for HOD' in government High Schools, half of which disappeared with the teachers you can be sure that any warehouse will be stocked using a PLP supplier and much of it will go "missing" before it even gets to those that need it. Nothing new as cronyism and inefficiency go hand in hand with all governments.

The PLP has no magic covid wand and cannot force people to be vaccinated. As for new hospitals and lowering taxes with a GDP debt of 80%, downgrading by Moodys just where will all this money come from. Politicians tell you what the public want to hear then get in power and reality hits home.. Bet you there will be no new hospitals built. How about paying for patient care at private clinics like the one in Palmetto Point which has clean modern facilities, emergency generator (that works) and several items of modern equipment. Got to be cheaper than building new family island cliinics that will suffer from lack of maintenance, equipment that is damaged, broken or not maintained.

In that case do not let any nursing officer on a family island handle the charter costs. In Eleuthera emergency flights (Not lifeflight) seem to have no bearing on the distance, time or type of plane , cost and rarely are official reciepts given .

It really is simple maths>The Bahamas is deep deep in debt with $80 out of every $100 going to repay external debt. With the further downgrading any further loans may attract higher interest rates. To reduce government revenue by even 2% may please a few loyal supporters but will contribute to an already sick economy. Collect all due revenues and make property taxes payable every year unlike many expats who simply do not pay until the property is sold. Add 10c to every bottle of liquor or beer sold, reduce the number of meaningless flights by various officials to the islands, clamp down on the few corrupt employees who steal and sell government property. Stop all these useless seminars especially on the family islands where a few officials dressed to the nines fly in ,have breakfast, hire a car, have a meeting , have lunch and fly back-especially true in education. Like any business cost cutting, reducing waste is a first step. As for all the wild PLP plans only comparable with Minnis wild offerings many unpleasant policies will and must be taken and taken now.
