Nonsense. ministry of education leaders have failed for years. From hiring Cuban teachers to teach subjects they are not qualified to teach, irregular or no supplies at all, nonsensical schemes to change the way practical subjects are taught, centralised computerised report card scheme abandoned, over 15 high school workshops closed through lack of teachers. Are we still sending BGCSE exam papers to Cambridge in the UK for checking and then having inspectors fly out to see if it is being administered properly ?So can you imagine IF there were funds for this grandiose free food scheme that they would be able to organise it ? Funny how just before the election Minnis promises this scheme plus increasing the minimum wage .One asks why these things could not have bee done months if not years ago.

Neither of the parties can carry out all their promises because of the national debt. It's that simple.

Having taught in the school system for over 40 years the ministry is incompetent and can't even get regular school supplies for departments such as woodwork, auto, cookery and science to name just four. I and many others gave up the annual farce of completing a requisition because very rarely did anything arrive. If this food idea had any hope of taking off ,just how will it be delivered. The lunch vendors will not be happy and given all governments tardy payment of bills history there will be stoppages far and wide, Funny how just on the eve of the election this idea springs up. All parties will come up with ideas just to get your vote and then quietly forget them. Has Minnis actually done the maths and costed this out-I very much doubt it.

A the man with a big magic wand flew down to the Bahamas and said " here you are Mr Davies, as much money as you want for all these splendid ideas, and just forget what we already owe".
If the PLP get in watch for a host of broken promises and raises in taxes. Enjoy the free tee shirts, chicken and beer whilst you can because harder times ahead whoever gets in.

Whomsoever wins be it PLP or FNM they all face the same problems of huge national debt and the difficulty of replacing decaying buildings. In fairness had the PLP been in power for the last three plus years can they state with absolute clarity how they would have handled the devastating hurricane and the equally devastating covid epidemic and done it without incurring massive debt. What the average Bahamian seems not to realise is that running a country comes down to basic financial maths. Income in - expenditure out. If you spend more than you earn then you have to borrow. Its that simple whoever you support.

Get your free chicken, tee shirt and beer because PLP have you believe they have a magic wand. Funny how they are going to promote vaccinations , how exactly.

So so many had a go at Brent Symonette for being a millionaire. Smacks of racism. Bear in mind Hank Johnson FNM incumbent MP is a self made businessman but not even close to being a millionaire as opposed to the three contendors. Just saying as so many seem to get wealthier once in offoce.

The problem with most democratic systems is that it is incumbent on the opposition to find fault with everything that the government is power does simply to be seen by its supporters as doing their job. How often do you see any opposition party actually support a motion tabled by the ruling party that will benefit the country . It is so easy to have all the solutions from outside but surely two hurricanes, worldwide covid and a severe reduction in tourism would pose the same problems for the PLP had they been in power. It seems that there is no continuity of good policies by one government when the other party takes power and changes everything. Growth of a country takes sound policies in place for years not one term. BUT nothing will change and we will see hundreds of thousands spent on tee shirts, music, travel, free chicken and booze, signs and backhanders just to get fools who actually believe all the wild promises made, just to get elected.

This virus is deadly if you happen to have underlying medical conditions , are elderly or have a weaken immune system, yet despite this article and many others showing patients gasping for death one day and dead the next, or suffering for months afterwards with long covid anti vaxers, conspiracy theorists still advocate against being vaccinated. I hope he survives and pulls through but if he has not been vaccinated for whatever reason this should be conveyed to the public in the hope that a well known figure in Bahamian society could influence those sitting on the fence.
