This is reality Mr Davies and your idea to reduce VAT to 10% may be a lie or a vote pleaser but it is utter madness to decrease your limited budget income at this time. How about not hiring all those who were promised a civil service job for election victory, Make everyone with any property of reasonable value pay and pay now property taxes, add 25 cents to every bottle of liquor and $1 on cigarettes. It is a fact that many expats selling their houses after 20-30 years of ownership never paid their taxes because their reasoning was take it out of the proceeds of the sale. That means taxes due say 15 years ago but not paid till 2021 have lost their purchasing value whilst the government continues to pay interest on loans. Make all politicians pay their electricity bills. Sell unused rented or owned government properties. God knows as individuals we have to balance expenditure versus income and evaluate whether a loan is necessary.. There are so many ways the PLP and FNM could save money but refuse to face up to reality. Go ahead Mr Davies , placate the great unwashed with rewards and meaningless tit bits but devaluation looms. and that will make todays cost of living seem cheap.
What don't you get about this virus. It doesn't discriminate , people can be carriers with no effects but can pass it on, Healthy people get infected and die. So many anti vaxers in the Bahamas and abroad have died often citing their dying wish that they had been vaccinated. Why this reluctance to get vaccinated. when smallpox, polio and a host of other diseases have been defeated with vaccines. Vaccination works and whilst you can still catch covid it reduces your chances of hospital admission and ICU dramatically. Look at the statistics which in the Bahamas UK and other countries clearly show that out of all hospital admission for covid the vast majority are unvaccinated. Remember might be to late when you have covid as many have realised. I seriously doubt that now Brave has the position of PM that he has a magic solution to this terrible virus, but wish him well in trying. Time will tell.
Minnis made desperate last minute unaffordable promises in the hope of re election and had the FNM been re elected none if any would have come to pass. However anybody who thinks Brave Davies has a magic wand to solve the financial, hurricane and covid crisis is also living on another planet. Stupidity is not relegated to FNM or PLP and the same stupid people who defied common sense rules re vaccination, social distancing and wearing masks will continue to do so . Watch when the old PLP's surface to feather their nests and face the exact same problems as the FNM ,unless Gay Fred has magic money seeds.
Deep in debt but offer free duty on building materials, furniture etc. Madness and just " what catchy gimmick can I dream up to get your vote". Mind you you can just see the corruption in administering this scheme if it were to happen.
So amusing to see dedicated followers wasting time, money on useless parades, free tee shirts, cookouts, backhanders, when in reality whomsoever wins cannot, I repeat cannot do 90% of their pre election promises because thete is no money. As for free breakfast, snacks and lunch for all students, totally impossible financially or practically. When will these stupid people adorning their cars in posters and sitting for hours honking their horns realise that nothing will change apart from a few more loyalty civil service jobs.Wake up.
Nonsense. ministry of education leaders have failed for years. From hiring Cuban teachers to teach subjects they are not qualified to teach, irregular or no supplies at all, nonsensical schemes to change the way practical subjects are taught, centralised computerised report card scheme abandoned, over 15 high school workshops closed through lack of teachers. Are we still sending BGCSE exam papers to Cambridge in the UK for checking and then having inspectors fly out to see if it is being administered properly ?So can you imagine IF there were funds for this grandiose free food scheme that they would be able to organise it ? Funny how just before the election Minnis promises this scheme plus increasing the minimum wage .One asks why these things could not have bee done months if not years ago.
Having taught in the school system for over 40 years the ministry is incompetent and can't even get regular school supplies for departments such as woodwork, auto, cookery and science to name just four. I and many others gave up the annual farce of completing a requisition because very rarely did anything arrive. If this food idea had any hope of taking off ,just how will it be delivered. The lunch vendors will not be happy and given all governments tardy payment of bills history there will be stoppages far and wide, Funny how just on the eve of the election this idea springs up. All parties will come up with ideas just to get your vote and then quietly forget them. Has Minnis actually done the maths and costed this out-I very much doubt it.

So let us assume that Covid reads the media and is aware that it can infect only during the stipulated hours and not during curfew hours.
