"enter the real world of goevernance" ?????? You had 5 years to do what was needed and in your terms it mean't taxing the crap out of the public, still borrowing, running up a huge national debt, making the peoples station the PLP station, encouraging ministers to feather their own beds and fail to curtail all the stealing and waste. Yes the PLP did start some projects but with no thought as to how they would be funded in the future. The people spoke, get used to it.

So I insure my home against hurricane damage. For 5,6 or 7 years I make no claim. Then my house suffers hurricane damage. I pay the deductible and if I am lucky the insurance company agrees to fund the remainder. The following year because I took advantage of my insurance I am penalized by an increase in my premium. WHY ? In other words the insurance company is going to claw back their money. As one person said to me , you only have to put the premium away for 2 - 3 years and that will repair most damage. In essence hurricane insurance is far to expensive and the companies never say a word when years go by without a storm but cry poverty when they do have to pay out.

Disgusting. Any event like this should be thoroughly vetted and a large deposit demanded to cover these expenses. It really seems that some persons got their palms greased to circumvent normal customs and work permit procedures,

Reign in Mr Flowers and the numbers shops and have a national lottery, at least the country will get some income from it. Stop all current projects until a thorough evaluation can be done to see how much political patronage was included in awarding the contracts, whether there are cheaper and better solutions and is it needed at this moment in time.

A construction boss I know when discussing a long time "old school" employee said he wished he had ten like him as most of his younger workers think only of their paycheck and not going that extra mile or improving their skills. As for tax free zones that's crazy because all tax free items in that area will create a black market whereby goods are simply purchased in that zone and then taken out to other places and islands. How about reducing expenditure then remove VAT from a very limited and specific number of items such as electricity/medical and basic foodstuffs. Add a cent duty to gas, tax the winter residents renting homes, tax the hundreds of foreign boats anchored in Exuma all winter. Its a simple maths calculation to balance income and expenditure.

It was so blatantly obvious that it was a PLP political platform paid for by our taxes. The "peoples station" like hell it was. In talking about the nightly 7 pm news a friend of mine disclosed that only now has he started watching again as previously it was Perry-Perry and more Perry. In fact it should have been renamed the Perry Christie hour. On another note the programming is so out of date and out of tune. Every afternoon about the time when kids are going home after a long day in the classroom is this boring useless "a time for eduction". I would be surprised if more than 50 kids listened to it. Then Sat when there should be fun music we have the same old Junknoo talks with the same subjects being discussed week after week.
As for TV -that's a joke and most citizens and residents watch cable or Netflix. Time for a great change.

So now we are in for a "its a witchhunt" every time (and there will be many) theft by employment and other dishonest activities are being investigated. Grow up Wayne and realize that you make money often defending the indefensible and really don't care about the bigger picture.

You are a total PLP arse Birdie. The fnm never said they would repeal VAT rather look at how and on what services it is being levied. Just remember these past PLP Gods that you worship not only wasted all the VAT money (what other words can I use as no proper explanation was given as to how the VAT money was spent) but more borrowed on top. So the new government has a very tricky balancing act to show the external monetary authorities that the national debt is being paid down, that expenditure is drastically reduced yet trying to improve peoples lives.

Really simple. Large auction held to sell the impounded goods before they deteriorate or disappear .

Funny how we have lived through the lowest oil prices in decades, yet freight charges remained the same or rose. Funny how shopkeepers keep raising their prices but never pass on savings,Interesting that government revenue always rises as the cost of items imported rises, but this seems to be ignored. Very interesting that despite record income from VAT and a host of other rises the last government can' or would not account for how it was spent and still borrow more. Lastly shopkeepers have the burden of working for the government for free collecting taxes and having audits then are judged by a civil servant in a nice cosy AC office who can go home every day at the same time yet may be in a position to levy a fine on the overworked businessman/woman for being late. A simple premise is that the more the government takes out of the economy the less there is to stimulate growth and spending and like a vicious circle the less taxes collected.
