So true. How about the long serving boss of Bahamasair in Eleuthera retiring and then being rehired in Nassau ? How about all the ex BUT presidents who after leaving that post were hired as consultants in the Ministry of Education. How about the Director of education already enjoying an extra 2 years after the retirement age now wants another 2 years ? Careers are like escalators -young should enter at the bottom and at 65 the old retire and then everyone moves up a notch. But under the corrupt PLP there was no chance as the top jobs became permanent almost until death.
There is so much corruption and political favoritism to sort out that it is unreasonable to expect Minnis to do everything in a couple of weeks. God knows that when you start a new job it takes time to get settled in. This is a positive step and should, be applauded. B. Bethel was a leech and he anf many other cost this country a small fortune.
Always said that there were not sufficient funds for NHI yet despite an urgent need to cut costs the previous government made promises they couldn't keep. And gullible Bahamians still believe there is a pot of gold to fulfill these grandiose schemes. Despite Exuma "mini hospital" never opening work still goes on in Palmetto Point day after day ripping the land to make it even possible to start work on the so called "mini hospital". There is something very wrong with many of our people who demand shiny new things that cannot be afforded and even worse cannot be maintained or operated properly. I am sure Eleuthera is just one example of many but the time has come to say lets refurbish what we have, after all as a responsible citizen I am expected to live within my means. But again look at many of my fellow countrymen and women, brand new shiny car but house in desperate need of repair and struggling to pay for the necessities of life. That is the government in a nutshell.
It has to happen, no promises, no pontificating. Lets start by getting rid of Baltron Bethel, all the ex BUT presidents who automatically get jobs in the Ministry, how about Bahamasair managers who retire then get another job in Nassau working for Bahamasair?. The government has to come clean and transparent on the countries finances, and start firing all those so called consultants and persons getting two pensions and a salary.
I can only assume that you make these stupid comments to get a reaction because nothing that you say makes sense.I do believe that in addition to VAT and all the other taxes the PLP borrowed millions. I do believe that as an election ploy they suddenly promised to give the police the back pay. Now I could be wrong but in your little world the FNM are damned if they give the rise and damned if they don't.
Who is Maynard to talk, grabbing shop allocation in the new hotel, What about, Fitzgerald and the rest. Your party was riddles with corruption and there was no truthful communication with the public. We got tired of seeing PLP's getting jobs ahead of better qualified candidates, lack of tenders, Having referendum results and the wishes of the electorate totally ignored. Your party was totally corrupt and even your own supporters voted FNM just to get your crooked backsides out. Or are you to dumb to realize that you need the old guard out .
I am a supporter of the FNM but all of us have to recognize that the last government spent money like confetti , no accountability, payments made for work not done, no open bidding process to get the best value and on and on and on. With this in mind the infrastructure of the country has been left to decay. Time to swallow our pride and think with our brains not our emotions. Run power lines from Florida where there is an abundance of cheap electricity because this country is so deep in debt that further borrowing only brings the downgrading and devaluation closer and closer. Christie and his ilk have a lot to answer for ,they acted like the captain of a sinking ship ignoring the impending disaster, yet they expect the public to conduct their affairs such as paying taxes on time and paying their bills. So much to be done, for starters instead of making flowers richer with his gaming shops have a national lottery , collect taxes from all the foreign rental property owners, tax all the winter boaters a hook tax.
Be realistic, the new government has to get the facts, get evidence and then serve notice of prosecution. What will be a problem is if the public are fed generalities and not given specifics at to misappropriated funds and the NAMES of those involved.
