The government has to be tough and decisive. Natural wastage in the civil service, dismissal of all the so called in house consultants, Taxing winter residents on rental income, total review of projects such as the mini hospital in Central Eleuthera and many others, taxing visitors boats using a hook tax inplaces such as Exuma where there are 4 or 500 boats enjoying our waters for free. In short cut expenditure. Mind you crafty Christie pulled a smart one with the Police back pay. If re-elected in all probability that promise would have been delayed or stopped. Not elected (as we now know) he leaves the problem with a new administration already cash strapped.
No Birdie, the FNM government will not have it easy as they have one hell of a financial mess to clean up created by your corrupt ex government. As for transparency you are so deluded when you consider all the unexplained VAT expenditure, the extra hirings , the money handed out prior to the election, the 52 week job hiring just before the election, the purchase of property in central Eleuthera from ex PLP minister for a so called hospital, just before the election, the contract signing for the hospital just before the election. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. One thing Minnis needs to do is get ride of the rest of the old farts milking the public purse -Baltron Bethel for one.
I agree that outright discrimination is wrong but there are wrongs that need to be righted such as unqualified persons assuming top positions above senior experienced staff in the same dept. Look at the staffing at National Insurance in Governors Harbour as a great example.
Great victory but now reality sets in and the FNM is burdened with all the debt, extra hirings, infrastructure failures to deal with. I look forward to seeing some of the skeletons in the PLP closet being exposed especially the use of VAT unless of course the shredding machines were working double time last night. Now what happens to the 12 month hirings made just before the election, the 30 million dollar hospital for central Eleuthera. If Minnis is sensible he will review everything very carefully and prune were necessary. As a suggestion instead of rapid and instant downsizing of the bloated civil service use natural wastage like retirement and death as a way. Less political fall out. The reality is that unless a proper fiscal budget is prepared and implemented we still face downgrading, devaluation and IMF. At least we have a chance and hopefully have a Prime Minster who doesn't believe in "pissing away money". I guess Austin Knowles Junior must have wasted a lot of money in the lead up to the election and his wife's position as head of National Insurance in Governors Harbour definitely needs reviewing.
Thank God OB W is out. They screw up and now Jibrilu says vendors will be paid. And if that ever happens I guess we the public will pay out of VAT money. Furthermore how was stuff inported without customs duties being paid and where is all that stuff now. Any half wit could tell you that the MOT should never have sanctioned this to coincide with the Exuma Regatta for many reasons. But we all know that if this event had been a success then OBIE and the MOT would be claiming how well they worked.
Hey were having a $30,000,000 hospital on Eleuthera with operating theatre, morgue, dental, trauma treatment and more. Um! It took for ages to get a permanent doctor to come to Central so how are we going to staff an operating theatre. Oh the pigs just flew past the window.
Um! swayed by Christie and all the recent hiring, $100 bills and other rewards at all our expenses. What a joke. And the reward 5 more years of favouritism , bribery, increases in VAT, further downgrade and the real probability of devaluation. And then we all suffer PLP's and FNM's but not the chosen few who reward themselves.
No wonder we are so in debt as a country. Seems like so many are rehired as "consultants" that only the middle class and poor loose or cannot get jobs. I wonder what some of the devoted PLP fans have benefitted over the last 5 years and how long the $100 they were given will last. There are so many skeletons that we will need to cremate some to make room.
Guess what---another ground breaking for the "hospital" in Palmetto Point Eleuthera with the PM and all the hangers on , one day before the election . And many PLP suppporters don't see the shear coincidence of this happening at this time ???????????
Why on Eleuthera do we have a drug dealer under threat of extradition going around and reportedly paying light and water bills to gain PLP votes. Why is it so important to him ? There has to be an end game in this frantic struggle to retain power. I say take the $100 bills , let your utilities be paid and then vote them out.
