Um! swayed by Christie and all the recent hiring, $100 bills and other rewards at all our expenses. What a joke. And the reward 5 more years of favouritism , bribery, increases in VAT, further downgrade and the real probability of devaluation. And then we all suffer PLP's and FNM's but not the chosen few who reward themselves.
No wonder we are so in debt as a country. Seems like so many are rehired as "consultants" that only the middle class and poor loose or cannot get jobs. I wonder what some of the devoted PLP fans have benefitted over the last 5 years and how long the $100 they were given will last. There are so many skeletons that we will need to cremate some to make room.
Guess what---another ground breaking for the "hospital" in Palmetto Point Eleuthera with the PM and all the hangers on , one day before the election . And many PLP suppporters don't see the shear coincidence of this happening at this time ???????????
Why on Eleuthera do we have a drug dealer under threat of extradition going around and reportedly paying light and water bills to gain PLP votes. Why is it so important to him ? There has to be an end game in this frantic struggle to retain power. I say take the $100 bills , let your utilities be paid and then vote them out.
The PLP government did not come close to doing what it would say it was going to do, has demonstrated a complete lack of respect for the electorate and is as corrupt as can be--That is proven .on the other hand you are only speculating on what you think Minnis will do and that's not fair,. Is Minnis a leader like figure-No- does the FNM deserve a chance absolutely.
I will never understand how a man of his age and whether you like him or not want to spend the dwindling days of his useful life working all hours and being subjected to constant and often justied criticism.
"Its easy to piss away money" says it all about the PM and the financial mismanagement of this country. The choice for the next government is starkly simple. Drastically reign in spending, reduce the bloated civil service. put a monatorium on promotions and wage hikes and start paying down the national debt. The alternative is a final downgrade, devaluation and greater poverty. And by the way PLP supporters who blindly support this government but refuse to look at the facts will suffer along with FNM and DNA. Our children face a bleak future because it is they who will suffer from these corrupt, inefficient and greedy politicians.
Part of the problem of timekeeping starts in school. Having taught in many family island schools it is often the case that Principals allow some students to wander in at anytime and furthermore when members of staff remonstrate with these late students not only do they get no backing from the administration but are often rowed out by the parent. If we don't train students and parents the importance of timekeeping then it perpetuates itself into adulthood and the ballot boxes arriving late is a classical example.
Party manifesto's are non specific because so much of what is said is beyond reach. It seems that every party simply spouts what they think will sway the electorate their way with no real thought as to how it will be done. What needs to be done is reduction in government spending and paying down the national debt but this would be unpalatable to voters if details of how it would be done were to be released. One wonders what any government does in its 5 years when it suddenly comes up with all these wonderful ideas just before the election. Why like all the sudden promotions, naming schools, and refurbishing some clinics is this just happening ? The answer is clear .
Dear John, I wondered how long it would be before you and the likes of you bring out the worn out mantra " blame it on the white man" . Tourists and foreign homeowners contribute a huge amount not only to the Treasury but apart from spending in the local shops and restaurants also employ maids, gardeners, mechanics, builders fishing guides, and more. More than one Bahamian has told me that he works for "white" (foreign) people because they provide work and pay on time. You have had over 40 years of independence to get the country in shape, make your own laws and take control but instead support crooked politicians and corrupt practices . I suppose you want " Roots " on ZNS every night to convince the dim witted that foreigners are responsible for modern day slavery. But you are right when you see the divisions in the country especially at this election time tearing the country apart.
