The Bahamas is already financially crippled and whomsoever gets elected have two choices.1. Bite the bullet, reign in spending, cancel many unnecessary projects or at least tone them down ,reduce the size of the bloated civil service and set a budget that reduces the national debt with a complete stop on further borrowing. 2. Continue as we are , get downgraded and devalued dollar.
If and its a big if then this country is doomed. And these deluded PLP supporters often voting simply because the family have always voted PLP are blind to the corruption going on and at their expense. Vote PLP and watch for a downgrade, possible devaluation, VAT up to 15% and a new hotel that can never grow the economy as promised. Go ahead and while you struggle to survive the men you blindly followed will have no financial problems.
Your so right. What these ministers do not seem to realise is that so much money is being taken out of the economy with VAT and other taxes that the average person has little disposable cash not only for pleasure but mortgages, business start ups and so on. On their salaries with the perks they are out of touch with reality. Can you believe I just paid VAT to bank my cheque into my account.
Why are hundreds of thousands of dollars spent clearing a huge piece of land for a new "hospital" when the existing clinic could be expanded , modernised , at far less cost or what about adapting the existing workers house lying empty. Time to examine every dollar spent and get the absolute best value .
Wow this is a god send for this company with all the incentives. All the while Bahamians struggle with ridiculous power bills, incredibly high food prices, VAT on everything and on some family islands pathetic water supplies.
Like N. Korea, the average Bahamian knows no better and accept corruption and Ministers getting rich whilst their standard of living deteriorates. I see poor families in our settlement with their free PLP flags fluttering from their car and yet they have had absolutely nothing from the government of real benefit. A flag , $100 and empty promises and they give your their vote. So very sad.
Whomever wins has to do some unpleasant things if this country is ever to come close to recovery. Yesterday it was published that the Bahamas was the 7th most expensive country in the world to live. All these selfish politicians have done is store up a financial disaster for future generations.
He has all the responsibility for grade D which he stated was acceptable. Despite the rhetoric schools still want for supplies, Cuban teachers are hired who cannot be understood, do not know their subject and really have no reason to give their all as they leave after 2 or 4 years laden with western goodies. Look at this National diploma, once the non academic students realise they have no hope of graduating they give up. He talks the talk but also has to accept responsibility for the poor results.
Don't keep Bahamian dollars get USD like Shane. All the recently and past talented Bahamian students consider working abroad where your political persuasion doesn't matter, wages are better, prices are cheaper and your working environment better. Mind you I am told that the 52 week government employment program is about to start next week. If true what a coincidence ?
