Fellow Bahamians, you were told that the Haitians are very adept at trickery. Now your eyes are wide open. You haven't seen the end yet. They are figuring now how to out maneuver you. The pastors, the associations, the ambassador, the president et al, are actively involved. They pretend not to understand that 'born in the Bahamas' refers to specific 'citizens' of the UK & Colonies, relative to 10 July 1973 and other legal provisions enacted prior to 1973, and others who were 'naturalized'. Aliens who landed in the Bahamas illegally were never considered, except, that they are criminals. As such they cannot be made eligible to be granted the privileges that pertain to citizenship.
Keep your uneducated opinion in your head, in future. Now do some real research on the subject you attempted to advance. Looks like your handle is K4C? Obviously you are not prepared academically or otherwise for this league.
Does anyone remember the statement of a senior Bahamas government minister that Haitians born in the Commonwealth of The Bahamas are stateless? Total confusion was exhibited then, but, very few bahamians took exception to that LIE. He played politics and now the chickens have come home to roost. It was a dumb thing to say because it could not and cannot be supported by any law of the bahamas.
Article 7 of the Constitution must be viewed in light of The Immigration Act (1967), which, lets say is the mother. The Constitution (1973) did not do away with, or smothered Mother. The Constitution comes alongside Mother, to sustain and strengthen her. In other words, MOTHER has not been repealed. MOTHER is still alive and well. Bahamians must take time out to read and study what pertains to our good governance and well-being as a nation.
That PKM person is as ignorant as a dried piece of sheep skin. Obviously PKM, or whatever, not a Bahamian who went to school. Please listen, to learn. Its a shame that a citizen is unaware of provisions of Bahamas constitution that pertains to citizenship of The Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Read, PKM, read it, for your own edification.
