Tal, there is charity and there is stupidity. Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over again and hoping for a different outcome. How many times during your lifetime has Ragged Island been completely destroyed? At least 10 that I can remember. And every time we spend tens of millions of $ on a bunch of people to get a handful of votes. Because rebuilding their infrastructure serves no other purpose. Give them all Crown Land elsewhere of their choice (Long Island, Exuma...wherever) and a grant for building material and let this annual farce with Rugged Island be finally over.

Anyone who has been to Rugged Island knows that its viability was always hanging by a thread. But it is a free country. If they want to live without electricity and water as if it was 100 years ago, up to them. But equally it is the Government's right to tell these people that it is becoming ridiculous spending fortunes to rebuild their infrastructure every year.

Given its recent construction, Baha Mar should be the safest structure in New Providence. It is one thing to evacuate guests by plane to a safe location, an entirely different one to tell them to go to a public shelter. If you had paid thousands to stay there, you would be livid if you were told to go to a public shelter, would you not?
Given that normally they do not have more than a dozen people staying there, they could have evacuated them all in a mini van.

These bloodsuckers just cannot wait for an excuse to jack prices even more from the ridiculous levels they already are. Well, they will be disappointed. Everyone is stuck with a whole load of material they bought and will now not use. No reason to visit a builder's merchant for another year. Tighten your belts, bloodsuckers.

I am told Government Offices are closed today. Can anyone tell the difference? Things seem to progress at usual pace!

What are you all worried about? With the number of Bishops, Reverends, Popes, Archdeacons and Cardinals in the Bahamas and all praying at once, it is almost impossible for anything bad to happen here! Surely!

Begs the question: why do newspapers refer to them as "Bishops"? Surely they should refer to them as what they are: self styled "bishop". If I called myself "Emperor of the Bahamas", would they honor my "title"? I don't think so. They would think I was a charlatan, which these "bishops" surely are.
