I think it extremely unlikely that American and Delta would compete. They would fix fees @ $500++ to MIA/wherever and we would all be worse off for it.
I wish it were not so, but we need Bahamasair. A better Bahamasair...
Privatization is not an option...and everyone knows it. The value of the slots is not matched by the liabilities of the company. Bahamasair basically has a negative net worth and is not a going concern.
The value of Bahamasair is NOT to any private individual but to Bahamians and to the Bahamas tourist sector. Without it, fares to US would be MUCH higher. Add planes and slots and compete with AA. Have at least 8 flights to MIA daily.
So, just as the USA votes to legalize marijuana, US drug enforcement turns its attention to the Bahamas. Which makes sense: they want to protect their tax base and their producers. There is a government, looking after their own people. Not like these clueless morons in charge of us.
Could we outsource everything else to the US as well, please? Electricity production, telecommunications, sewage, tourism policy, monetary policy....everything. Then we can go back to the only thing we are good at. As someone mentioned it here: sitting under a tree and selling crab.
I am sure there are one or two people who can't tolerate corruption. Which is just as well, because paying off the other 99.99% is both tedious and expensive.

LOL. While Bahamians are great thinkers. 400,000 Aristotles. And everything works perfectly, unlike in that shithole, the USA.
