The B.S 'Christian' Council did not want gambling either, what happen there? money is power!! What we need is a powerful marijuana lobby with a powerful voice and a deep bank account.

One question, regardless of Federal, State, or local, is the drugs being grown in the continental of the united states of america? Yes/No, ok, clean that up FIRST, then tell others to clean theirs up!!! but it will not stop growing it's quite the opposite, the marijuana movement is flourishing here in the U.S, and am not complaining, the federal government does has the power to stop it!!!!

This is the same argument 'you good ole folks' use on African Americans living in America, Don't be stupid, the world CAN survive without America, probably be more peaceful too. #WhiteePowerr

As a **born-again Christian**, I am diametrically opposed to any attempt to **secularise The Bahamas.** And that includes the legalisation of marijuana

As an educated Bahamian I weep for our nation daily! 'born-again' secularise? 'medical weed' also known as? I never know that was the scientific name, thank you. I just can't get over it secularise the bahamas???? Shame on you Tribune, this kinda of crap should never be printed, it dangerous ignorant rhetoric! Find someone with knowledge of cannabis to oppose it, I'll defend those who for cannabis legalization and those who are against it, but for the love of humanity, find someone with scientific or at the least biblical knowledge! This is heartbreaking! Religion is is getting more dangerous in The Bahamas than gangs! secularise the bahamas???? Wow!, Just Wow!!!

**Statement From The Office Of The Attorney General**

...It is important that the public be made aware that the orders obtained unilaterally by the Baha Mar entities from the United States Bankruptcy Court in Delaware were obtained on the basis that matters profoundly affecting the Government and people of The Bahamas will be subject to adjudication in the United States. This would have serious and far-reaching implications for Commonwealth of The Bahamas as a sovereign nation.

Completion and opening of the Baha Mar resort are matters of paramount importance to The Bahamas. The Government feels very strongly that resolution of the disputes that have delayed the project should occur in the Bahamas, subject to adjudication (to the extent that they cannot be resolved consensually) by Bahamian courts, consistent with the sovereignty of The Bahamas. The Office of the Attorney General and the Government’s international lawyers are therefore examining options that will ensure that the courts of The Bahamas are front and centre in this matter. This would not preclude ancillary orders being sought from foreign courts should such orders be needed – but as a matter of high constitutional principle and in the interests of national sovereignty it cannot be the other way around.

**I also understand this**:
***Economist:*** The US Courts are the ones who can dictate to China Construction America which is why Izmirlian would have filed in the US.

***Banker***: Also the holding company ultimately owning Baha Mar is based in Delaware

***1. Did Bah Mar agreed to the deal
brokered by PM Christie? if yes, why
the bankruptcy?
2. Did PM Christie knew
about the bankruptcy before it was
filed? if yes, why the shock?***

*It does seem like China and The Bahamas has become co conspirators in getting rid of Izmirlian family or they have lost confidence in them, with two global brand names (China, Bahamas) having this much delays building a resort this is definitely damaging to their brand image. The latter does seem to be more plausible, simply because of the signs the protesters were holding during their demonstration. This now begs another question:* ***is there any honor among thieves?***

This is amazing sad IMHO for 2 reasons. (1) Where are the authentic Bahamian talents? Not Bahamians singing rap, R&B, reggae etc, Where are the authentically Bahamian genre of music? Rake & Scrape etc Why are we so excepting of other countries genres but 'look down' on our own? I personally enjoy many types of genres, however, THEIR stories being told in their music about Compton, NYC, Portmore or Kingston is not really mine or my experience, but they are entertaining to listen to. Rake & Scrape the old 'storytellers' from Cat Island, songs of pride of a people from Inagua and Harbor Island. It's so sad that so many of our young people try to mimic what its like living in Jamaica and the USA, sadly, not even the positives of these countries but the ghettofabulous, hood and Jungless mentality, we are better than this! (2) To The Rt. Rev. Doc. His Majesty Ruhollah Khomeini Patty, Dear Sir/Madam I humbly ask you to feel free to elaborate if these scantily clad human bodies (created in the image and likeness of your god) were men instead of women, what will it eventually lead to, since nakked women leads to fonication, I am aware this is the reason why Youtube and other porn websites are banned from being accessed in the Bahamas (sarcasm off) What do you want? money? sadly you seem to have become nothing more than a shake-down-artist, a fraud, a hypocrite, The Bahamas is NOT a theocracy! Who give you the authority to choose what The Bahamian nation should see or not see? (Date, Time and location) How could you sleep at night, this is not only reckless but irresponsible for someone who is head of an organization that SADLY have such political and other influence on our country, this is embarrassing! especially when 90% of Bahamians either know or assume who/what you are. The politics of using religion to control the masses is rapidly backfiring, especially when there are so many documented hypocrites! Maybe you and fellow member of the cloth should attend these events, it may help you decrease the amount of homosexuality among men in the church, if that's something you're interested on putting a 'plug in'. Am just sayin'.

So am I, what do we (Bahamas) have to offer tourist that Cuba does not to offer them MORE of? This new U.S - Cuba relationship is great for both the Bahamas and the people of Cuba, we just need to step up our game! we've been doing it longer and better than most in the Caribbean. The world is changing right before our eyes. Countries around the world are fighting for that tourism dollar. We need to start thinking outside the box, new ways to keep the Bahamas as what it is, one of the best locations in the Caribbean if not the best, the newer generation with powerful influence and spending power and like to have a great time are "Hipsters" unfortunately or fortunately this is great for tourism destination that has safe and humane cannabis laws, regardless of our belief, we're catering to tourist not really Bahamians, We, (Bahamians) win because of the spending from said tourist, its a win, win situation. Do you know what will be interesting, if Cuba decides, (when it's tourism market opens) to legalize Cannabis and The Bahamas don't or have not? Another off topic, I wonder how many Bahamian throw away their Apple product (Iphone, Mac's etc) since learning that the CEO of Apple Inc is Gay? Oh, I forgot you were discussing Cuba. "People suffer because of a lack of knowledge"

PastorTroy says...

It's time to start thinking outside the box! Colorado, Washington State, Washington D.C, California this is a new generation that likes diversity and freedom, all centered around common sense issues like Prohibition and the failure of the War on Drugs. The recent decision made my U.S President Obama, is not loved by all, but it makes common sense! after 50 years! This should teach us, people are who they are, but also we are all connected by a common bond and love and respect for our fellow Wo/Man. Crime and poverty is a direct result of the war on drugs in the U.S and around the world including The Bahamas. We also need to look at our justice system because crime will sink The Bahamas. I may not currently live in The Bahamas. but I have the ability to see the caribbean as a whole from a foreigners view not living in any of them, I must confess to you we are looking bad! not as a Country or people, but crime! The #1 thing visitors want is SAFETY! if you cannot guarantee my safety? no matter how beautiful, or cheap or blue the waters, I'll swim in a pond in Colorado and live than take the risk and die. Legalize Cannabis, give those many young black men something to do that they will love doing while making an honest wage and have the means to feed himself and their families. Tell all the Literalist Biblical Theologians (90% of Bahamian preachers) This is love, not demonizing our young men sunday after sunday from their "bully pulpit" History will judge them harshly should they choose to not be like Jesus, caring, compassionate, love etc. young bahamians rise up!!! stop hiding and speak up for your future!

@John Very good comment!

PastorTroy says...

@JJSherman, I sympathize with you and your personal and family situation, however, I think you mis read my post. I was not referring to the general Bahamian public as bad, I was highlighting, the cause and effect of a broken Educational system, rampant political cronyism and now heavy outside foreign influence with deep pockets. I am aware The Bahamas have its challenges, however, challenges are everywhere. I hope you find peace within your daily walk and find the courage to face those who hurt you and not run away. Good Luck!
