I can at this moment agree with you cannabis may have some possible negatives, however, look at the alternative; look at the cost to our young people and our nation if we maintain the status quo. Anyone with eyes can read the reason why it was made illegal and the devastating effects it had on minority communities and people of color around the world. Since we're on the topic of side effects, have you seen the pills commercials on TV? What about meat? NOPE! What about sodas? NOPE! What about GMO's? NOPE! What about 50% of our diet being hybrid foods? NOPE! What about the chemicals and lead in our water? NOPE! What about the mercury in our oceans/fish? NOPE! While cannabis has not directly contributed to the death of any human to date, pharmaceuticals have had a devastating effect on civilization around the world, we've lost many great musical icons, Micheal Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince and the list goes on and on, 'normal' people with legally prescribed poison are killing themselves in massive numbers, where is the outcry? Young people are drinking 'lean' like kool-aid while BigPharma is living the life on yachts in the Caribbean raking in profits while peddling these legal poisons to our kids. Cannabis is not perfect but sure is more healthy than the legal poisons in our medicine cabinets. Cannabis has been scientifically proven to help humans KICK addiction to opioids, hmm, interesting, now you understand the fierce fight and misinformation by BigPharma and other corporate entities? The only decent thing for Mr. Fernander(Bahamas Christian Counsel Pres.) to do is to take the same position as he did with the Minister of Health giving away condoms trying to protect/save our youths. I don't condone treating anyone less than human (whatever that means) however, but, the idea that making it easier for those regardless of their national origin who continue to blatantly break the law, deliberately refusing to add to the build-up of the country but just sucking it dry, and adding unsustainable strain to the public sector that those who have pride, those who try to stay within the law have to pay for while they themselves are having a difficult time make sense? So if I assume BOB is owned by Bahamian Taxpayers, Mr. Miller borrowed from us, then lease the building back to us and STILL couldn't make the monthly payments? This is legal fraud/theft. He should be glad the Minnis administration is buying the property back at face value and not him being on the hook for the additional 80% depreciation. @RawBahamian I agree but prohibition creates an even bigger problem. If we keep only thinking cannabis is dangerous in the hands of our "grade D graduates and single digit I.Q. individuals" as a perfectly good moral reason to keep it illegal, which, even if abused or over-prescribed by 'street pharmacist' causes no deaths, what you think about pharmaceuticals? We MUST take cannabis out of the hands of the 'criminal street racket' thugs who have no conscience, they lace their products and add other addictive substances in it to 'stretch' it and with the evil intent to get their customers hooked/addicted. This is a national security problem! And for those 'purists' who say/think they shouldn't be using it in the first place, go in your bathroom cabinet, take one or two extra units of that legal poison from your local drug store and see if you live to see the sunrise tomorrow.

This is a responsible thing for a Government to do to protect its people. if the 'conservatives' were truly honest with themselves, they would preach abstinence while handing out condoms, just in case, the teen decided to 'fall weak' like them (the conservatives) when they were a teen. While they at it keeping a few condoms in their glove compartment it may reduce conservatives having two households/family too.
