Mr. Monroe,
How can we trust you on other matters when you are less than truthful here?
There is nobody who has their wits about them, who has spent time in Nassau, that would agree with your statement. "As online criticism mounted, with some Bahamians accusing police of aggressive driving and ignoring traffic laws, Mr Munroe rejected claims that prison buses speed, describing them as “rolling cell blocks” while clarifying that the vehicle involved was a police escort bus."
The Bahamas has entered into a post-truth period.
There is no accountability for lying. None. Doesn't matter who you are.

And I'm sure Mr. Munroe has no idea of whom the compromised Bahamian official is, still in office, pointed to by US authorities?
Of course not.
A most dangerous administration, this.

"Vendors were relocated to Fort Charlotte in March after the government closed Fort Fincastle for what was described as a four-month restoration project at the Bennett’s Hill water tower. That timeline has since passed, leaving vendors operating in what they describe as makeshift conditions unsuitable for long-term business."

Four months from March is July. Four months from July is November.
Bottom line, we don't care.
No accountability for being on time in this country.
None!
We don't care.
That is why anyone visiting from a functioning country can see clearly why we are failing here in The Bahamas.
We don't care.

If they are hiding them bordie, and we have no Freedom of Information, no transparency, who will find them?
Isn't that what hiding means birdie?
Are you suggesting that this PLP government is not corrupt?
Who is not of sound mind birdie?

Porcupine says...

How about a statement from the Commissioner of Police stating that this practice will end tomorrow.

Why do we never listen, and never learn?
Has not this dangerous practice been raised over and over?

Hey Mr. Hartnell,
The IMF, IDB and other international lending agencies do not care about The Bahamas.
They care about making loans.
The onus of due diligence is on the lender.
Time and again, you have reported in this paper the very low scores given to The Bahamas by these same lending agencies in terms of performance and efficacy of the loans granted to us.
Based upon the years of bad "report cards" that we have been given, why would these agencies continue to loan us money?
Follow the money, Mr. Hartnell. And the terms of the loans. And the interest rates.. And the collateral pledged.
Clearly, those lending us the money MUST have some reason to continue to make these loans to politicians and the so-called financial experts who may not be as educated as they are, or perhaps even corrupt. Imagine that!
Do you think the lending agencies do not know who they are dealing with?
Obviously, they are getting what they want.
Few perform as poorly as The Bahamas in regards to making this money work for all Bahamians. Report after report points this out.
Those at IMF, the World Bank and the IDB know exactly who they are dealing with and the character of our leaders.
Their reason for existing is to ensnare us into eternal debt and eventual economic collapse, whereby their banker and private equity friends will swoop in and buy our devalued assets for pennies on the dollar.
And, do not think for a moment that our natural resources have not been put up as collateral, as well.
We have willingly entered the next round of slavery.

So, as the Bahamian economy crashes, more and more Bahamians will be forced to fish themselves. If you think the Americans are bad about taking what is not theirs, find me a Bahamian fisherman who thinks any of our Fisheries law applies to them.
Your logic baffles me SP.
Do you have no knowledge of economics whatsoever?
Better to destroy the economy with uneducated and counterproductive methods of raising revenue for the government, causing misery among average Bahamians, rather than doing a better job of policing our waters.
Brilliant. You deserve to be in Parliament.
Along with the other shallow thinkers.

"And no one – I repeat, no one, has ever explained to me why this didn’t happen.
“I view it as my greatest failing that I couldn’t get this across the line. Will somebody, please, just tell me why it didn’t happen."
The answer is clear.
Someone in government wasn't getting their cut.
Simple and true..

It implies that maintenance is not a word in our vocabulary, and that most managers in our country are incompetent.
As well as, nobody is EVER is blame for anything. God's plan. Nothing more to see here.
