I agree, but I think the real consequences of this under-investment in education has already taken a very dangerous toll. It goes well beyond productivity. First off, we have to care. I fail to see any real national concern. If there was a real concern for education, we would see more educated adults. There is no age limit to learning. We have little to no spark among our people. The business side of this "poor educational outcomes" is only one, and among the least overall in importance. The social consequences of a poor education are in plain sight, yet we fail to make the connections.
Time for us to bring in competent managers. Why each year, do we wait until a week before school starts to start construction projects? And, these people still have a job in a ministry? Fire those who cannot do their jobs? We continue to cloak utter incompetence. Why is there so little emphasis on getting it right with our schools? Let's face it. Educated kids would come back to The Bahamas, for what? Only if they are inheriting money and land. But, to get educated and come back? So that you have to kiss some politicians ass for a job? Are we too stupid to see why educating our citizens has failed?
Ha ha ha. Obviously written by a defence attorney who has spent considerable time confusing facts with fiction, for the people. Does anyone truly believe anything the PLP says? Does anyone really dispute that these Lehder / Pindling transactions took place? I would believe Carlos Lehder before I would believe any official PLP statement. Does the PLP spend ALL day defending their anti-Bahamian actions, lies, theft and nepotism? When do they have time to do the People's work? My God. These people in the PLP party have no shame at all. What they are really saying is that Sir Lynden had nothing on their ghost moves. He was a small player compared to the entire PLP administration at present. The present PLP leadership, led by someone unable to discern the truth if it hit them in the face, has exceeded the "A country for sale" by leaps and bounds. If Bahamians were educated, spent any time reading at all, we would have never allowed this party to defile The Bahamas as they have, and are currently doing. Yup, says more about us, than the lousy PLP, hey? My God, of course he took the money, as one commenter writes, "the equivalent of $667,455.55 US a month" in today's money. We can still accept that Pindling was a good man and good leader, while acknowledging reality. Those who are still in denial, despite the books, articles, first-hand accounts are only proving themselves unreliable and delusional. That the money "wasn't handed directly to Pindlling" is the argument one would expect from a greasy weasel, or a criminal defence lawyer.. The truth seems all but dead here. No remorse. Just a way of doing business, For the PLP.
And, wondering why The Bahamas remains silent on this matter? Is it that we don't really care about anything or anyone other than ourselves now? Legally speaking, Hamas had every right to resist against their being kept in a concentration camp, even violently, This is international law. Israel is the occupying force. They have no right to defend themselves in Gaza or the West Bank. Hasn't anyone been following this for the last 50 years? This is not new information.
Once our teachers are better educated and better paid, and the education budget increased to adequately educate all our children, and adults, we can move forward. Presently, we have too many stupid adults in this country who simply don't care about anything. Ignorance breeds violence. This is very well studied. But, one has to be educated to understand this.
Anyone who suggests that donald trump has ever told the truth is delusional. He is scum. no more, no less. Probably would be in good company in our Parliament.
