I appreciate this letter.
Thank you for taking the time to write it.
There is little to criticize, and much to agree with and support.
The fact that there is little to no comment on this letter suggests a few things.
As a society, we have already entered the chaos period.
Second, we have already managed to suppress those who have the ability to speak out.
In other countries, if a police applicant scores too high on their "intelligence" test, they are rejected.
I wonder why that could be?
Is it because we don't want thinking people in positions of power?
Is it because the powers that be only want obedient and loyal police?
Looking at this antics of this particular administration, can a thinking person imagine who would be left if they arrested all of those who committed crimes, both large and small?
Who would be left in Parliament if we had law and honest order in this country?
While I agree that it is ALL of our responsibility to obey the law and the rules set out, we have a saying here in The Bahamas, "The fish rots from the head down."
For far too long, we have tolerated a group of slimy, dishonest and self-serving people who call themselves "leaders" and "politicians".
Until we hold these mis-leaders to account, none more blatantly obvious than the current Davis administration, nothing will change, nothing can change.
While I agree that the police need to up their game, so to speak, the real efforts should be to rid ourselves of the smooth talking and forked-tongue leaders and politicians that presently occupy the corridors of power.

I disagree with Gowan Bowe on many issues.
However, this interview is spot on.
We have regressed, gone backwards, and it is to be laid at each political parties feet.
The larger question, however, is that these politicians are all Bahamian.
What it says to me is that our nation is adrift. The Bahamas is awash in dishonesty, lack of education, corruption, nepotism, racism and sexism.
How can we hold our representatives to a higher standard, when our population exhibits the characteristics of a sick, sick patient?
Our society has gone backwards, as seen in our national development.
We refuse to hold the well=known criminals to account. And there are many, including in parliament.
The problem is much, much greater than a National Development Plan Mr. Bowe.
Far too many of our best and brightest have fled this country.
And who could blame them?

Mr Thompson,
You are brave and correct.
Speaking out in this climate is dangerous.
Especially here in The Bahamas and the US.
Our politicians are owned.
They do NOT care about the people.
They care about taking as much as they can for themselves, as quickly as they can.
There will be no transparency or procedures, or standards.
They don't care.
Politics, seemingly everywhere now, is a criminal enterprise.
This is the truth.
It is likely worse here for many reasons.
No truth, or decorum will come from this administration.
None.

Which will soon come to nations like ours.
We can only hope the sneeze yields a cold, and not a fast terminal illness.

Porcupine says...

If we realized how deep, dark and pervasive this organized element of our society is, we would probably be even more sad.

Porcupine says...

We have an administration, the present PLP administration, of incompetent and ignorant fools.
They are there to get rich in 5 years.
They have NOT a concern for the Bahamian people.

Absolutely correct.

At least we are a Christian nation.
Just don't read the papers.
We lack vision, honesty and education.
A very deadly combination.

Porcupine says...

I would like to think so, however we must realize that this is about how our culture and the entire PLP administration which has no guardrails.
Anyone paying attention realizes that the corruption has permeated our entire culture. Maybe the FNM will be slightly better, however our nation has gone along with the corrupt politicians for far too long. This is not an election issue, it is a complete generational issue whereby the results will not be seen for 20 or 30 years. How many of us plan for more than the weekend?
We are UNABLE to be truthful and honest. We have rarely seen these attributes in our leadership.
The lack of an educated populace does not bode well either.
