Ms. Seymore, You state, "Manipulating journalists will not make the problem of crime disappear; it only undermines trust in our institutions." You are assuming we have, at present, even a modicum of trust in our institutions. Many of us do not, and have not for quite some time. The media is the most important institution we have. That is why criminals always want to throttle, or worse as is happening in Gaza at present, kill the journalists. Fascism anyone?
Truly approaching a dictatorship. Thank God we have an educational system and government policy keeping our people too ignorant to do a damn thing about it.
"I don’t know why they wouldn’t. They have all the actuarial figures. They know what the problem is and how much they’re going to raise it. I don’t know why they’re making it a secret. That’s all I can say. I just don’t know why. I really don’t.” This government doesn't believe the public has a right to know anything they do. Some thinking people call this criminal behaviour.
Mr. Allen, Nobody in power wants to hear this. A progressive tax system is fair and just. Our current tax system is unChristian. This is why politicians don't want an educated populace. If we were educated, we would see them for who they are. The politicians in this country have no interest in the goodwill of the people, despite what they say. The rich want to keep every penny they can get their hands on. The politicians get their cut. The rich own the politicians. Democracy is a joke. Our politicians are a joke A fair and just country's leaders, real leaders, would advocate for a tax system that was fair and just for all. So, what is missing in this equation? Perhaps fair and just leaders? .
What does that have to do with the truth that our regressive tax system is killing the middle class while the known pirates at top pay little to no taxes to run this country. Isn't this the issue? Is The Bahamas not expensive enough for you, messenger? Or, do you think the government is killing this country and someone who objects is out of place? Have you not noticed that even those who have trouble reading and writing are finally beginning to object to the madness of this economic warfare on the population? A poor education, from top of the heap to the bottom has cursed this country with ignorance.
