It is pitiful, you are right.
What do the statistics say about where our country is financially?
Does it matter who did, or didn't say it?
Is it true? Are we broke, or not?
If for once, we focused on the issue at hand, instead of making sure the messenger is killed, perhaps we would get somewhere.
It isn't bad press and haters which are taking this country down.
It is our dismal performance.
True, or not, no matter who is saying it?

Worse, those in political power know exactly what is coming regarding our debt obligations and financial condition.
We are in very dangerous territory and those at the top who know this are betting on the ignorance of the people and the total lack of accountability for those in office.
We are in deep do do and yet virtual silence from those politicians and experts living the life. These people do not need to worry how high their BPL, BTC,bills are, and the exorbitant regressive taxes placed on the Bahamian people.
Sad, truly sad.

On PLP is not doing enough for the people

Please Dr. Minnis stop with the BS.
You are part of the problem here in The Bahamas.
Politics has killed this country.
Stop spewing nonsense.
Both parties suck. Both have contributed to the horrible and desperate circumstances Bahamians find themselves in.
There are in fact two factions in The Bahamas.
PLP and FMN are in one faction. The Bahamian people are in the other.
Both the FNM and PLP stand in direct opposition to the Bahamian people.
You guys from both parties are the same.
"The People" have been screwed by both greedy parties, with what we have now is proof of that.
The Bahamas needs to pass a law that says if you've ever been in politics in The Bahamas past or present, you may never hold office again.
Only then, can we possibly break the deadly cycle of graft, corruption, nepotism, inefficiency, slackness, and bold-faced lies, As far as I can see, these are the only things either political party has offered the Bahamian people since independence.

We're not good at thinking past tomorrow.

Not surprising for entrenched money interests to neglect our obligations to future generations.
Do we really need to read more of Mr. Young's drivel?
My God, how we can justify most anything nowadays.
Sadly, not enough people stand up to these blabbering idiots.
The science supporting the need to end fossil fuel production and use has been solid for 50 years now.
We are simply blinded by glitz and glitter and the foolish words of someone like Young.
A sad state humanity is in.

Porcupine says...

A very bad precedent, unless you missed history class.
Haiti is being used as an example.
Who gets to define "failed state"?
Give us a few more years. The direction we're headed is more than clear.

Porcupine says...

Absolutely correct. The troops are being softened for when they have to raise their guns against their own.

Porcupine says...

Yes. You left out the next one.
It would be funny, if it weren't true.

I have been complaining in writing to BTC and URCA for much more than a decade. Over and over. Even Letters to the Editor, which were published complaining about BTC. They don't care. They don't care.
I rarely ever received a response at all, and never a word from urca. ever.
So, these are crocodile tears. When BTC was sold, a few connected people made millions on the deal, and are still making millions, all the while BTC cut service, cut employees, cut investment and then lie about it. BTC should be in court for fraud. They have for year after year advertised something which they knowingly fail to provide. This is the definition of fraud. Where is the justice for the Bahamian people? I am beginning to think it is all a criminal enterprise.
