The saddest part of all is that we failed at educating our people, or encouraging them to read. If ever, there was writing on the wall, how is this article not it?
Fire every useless URCA employee. They need to find a real job. URCA is an unnecessary drain on our valuable resources. BPL has already failed. Now, we are merely watching the house of cards fall.
You are quite right. However, you are in the minority. You are in the minority of people who actually approach this from a pragmatic, educated point of view and less archaic biblical misinterpretation. It doesn't start with our criminal justice and penal system. Therein lies our problem. The police in every country are the most organized criminals in society. Our brightest students do not go into the police force, do they? Why? Isn't the answer rather clear? We do not raise children anymore. Neither men nor woman seem to know how to care for and raise good kids. This is a national problem that leads directly to our high crime rate and lack of respect for others. If this is not evident, we have already failed and can do no better. Get used to it.
Birdie, Look hard and intelligently at the score card for The Bahamas as a whole. There is nothing, absolutely nothing that we are succeeding at. Please correct me, if I have overlooked one Bahamian government endeavor that hasn't, or isn't failing. Any high school graduate can see this, yes?
Mr. Bethel is correct. Yet, it has nothing to do with landmass. It has to do with principle and progress. We have abundant solar and tidal flow to harness and generate our energy needs. . There just hasn't been the money for politicians to put into their pockets, as with the fossil fuel industry. It is more than a lack of vision which holds us back. The history of BEC / BPL speaks volumes about our lack of integrity and failure of our country as a whole. This renewable energy talk is childish to those who are moderately educated.
Meanwhile, here on Mangrove Cay, Andros we are sucking Water and Sewerage dry with our breaking pipes, overtime, expensive patches, heavy equipment charges, and frequent water outages, and torn up roads. If Water & Sewerage was a true corporation, run like a business, we would have been bankrupt years ago. Please fix our persistent water delivery problems that have been ongoing in Mangrove Cay for decades now. It almost seems as if nobody cares. Is this possible? Do the heads of Water & Sewerage know where Mangrove Cay is?
