Why should we be surprised or outraged? He merely voices the attitude of many in elected office. If you want a better example of what the citizens of The Bahamas must endure, you won't find it. Enough clueless people voted this person into power. No surprises here. Next week, he'll be PM again.
The Bahamian government has abandoned Andros. I can document decades of legitimate complaints concerning our water outages, electrical outages, unreliable internet service, a decrepit clinic and on and on. Nobody in government gives a shit. They don't return calls or addresses complaints. Words cannot describe the frustration, as those in government talk big and act like they care about this country and its citizens. They don't care. How can anyone say they care when they can come here to Andros and talk to anyone here as to what we have to live with. Jokey leaders is what we have. Nothing more. Just like our most recent MP who seems impotent to do anything. What a sorry state of affairs. The question is this: In the 50 years of independence, has Andros moved forward or backward? The answer is clear. Come see for yourself.
This whole matter is, and has been a scam on The Bahamas. Do we not read the papers? The science? Other than the Tribune? Get this outfit out of The Bahamas. This is just another extractive (business) here to take advantage of our slackness. How is that FTX scam going? How about Oban? The Titan submarine was registered in The Bahamas. Why are these companies so interested in The Bahamas? Could it have anything to do with the fact that we are a nation for sale? The Bahamas needs to come to grips with the accelerating sea level rise and concurrent climatic changes. At some point in the very near future, we need to elect honest, educated and decent people to positions of power in this country. If it is not already too late. Lord knows that after 50 years, we still have precious few real leaders in this country. Worse, none of them are in elected office. Will there ever be a time when our leaders will vote for the good of our nation, instead of the dollars that go into their pockets?
He said: “I’m about to construct nine new clinics that are climate-friendly throughout the area and hopefully will act as hurricane shelters in preparation for gale force winds during the hurricane and the passage of the hurricane." I'm? He is personally providing the financing? Personally mixing the cement? He will be handing out the contracts? Is there an "I" in "we"?
Absolutely. The Bahamas is a land of justice, fairness, equal treatment, high education, and enlightened politicians who always do the right thing despite how much money they extort from others. And journalistic standards that assure nothing will change for the better.
This is good news. Since we have almost no enforcement on fisheries laws, almost no education, we can be assured that Queen Conch will likely vanish shortly before most of The Bahamas is underwater, which is not as far away as some may think. A country for sale? Absolutely.
