This merely exemplifies the idea that with enough money, paid to the right people of course, you can do whatever you want in this country. You can be a famous drug dealer, a web shop owner, or a foreign entity. If you grease the right palms, The Bahamas is your oyster. The Supreme Court is there to make it look like there may be an element of justice, which does not exist.
Show me a Bahamian politician who does not put themselves first.
They are ALL the same.

Hey Mr. Young,
Had you been following real news, instead of what you simply want your readers to believe, you would admit that Putin was backed into a corner.
You failed to mention the analysis, even by US scholars who said that breaking our agreement not to expand NATO any closer to Russian borders is what decisively led to this "war".
Your limited sense of fairness does nothing for the anti-war movement and certainly nothing to promote peace.
NATO should no longer exist.
It hasn't been Russian aggression that is the major cause of the current conflict. Do your homework. Honest, and unbiased policy analysts have been saying this for years.
It is simply the pipe dreams of those enriched by the weapons manufactures and the GI Joes of the western countries who feel they should be able to dictate to the rest of the world. The age of Empires, both the British and US, is soon to end.
Let's just get real about who we think we are. We are no better than anyone else.
Perhaps we should sit small and fix our own problems before exporting them the the rest of the world.
Have you read the stats on the condition of the average British citizen, or the average US citizen lately. Sound like a success to you? Perhaps if you are in the 1%. But, for all other people in these countries. Get real, Mr. Young.

We simply do not believe that the public has a right to know anything in our country.
That's why our politicians and businesses feel they own nobody an explanation for their well documented poor results and worse behaviour.
Having written hundreds of letters of inquiry, and complaints, to both business and government, it is fair to say that it is rather apparent that few feel they owe anyone an explanation for their actions, or usually, inaction.
In my estimation, we have already crossed the line into being a failed state.
We have an uneducated populace, a greedy elite class and a political class that lacks the intelligence, education, and morals needed to govern others.
What exactly, if we are to have hope, should we place this hope on?
God alone? We show no responsibility, as a group, for our society, or for others.

If the government agrees that an income tax is less regressive than our present system, they would need to eliminate VAT and some of the other odorous taxes. The main point to take away from the article is that every tax dollar taken out of the economy is a dollar not circulating in the real economy. Yes, we have a terrible theft, accountability and efficiency problem. Worse, we have a huge ignorance problem throughout our society. God is not a substitution for learning. Until we can carry on an intelligent conversation on a number of levels, and begin electing people who can think, and are honest, we can go nowhere.
Yes, we have a government spending problem. But, we also have a consumer driven local economy, which is being overburdened by the heavy and regressive taxation regime.
Our economy is being strangled, and there do not seem to be enough educated people to speak up about it.
Only when it becomes hugely apparent that we are crashing our economy and turning The Bahamas into a failed state for all to see, do our leaders have something to say.
We are headed in that direction now. But, we do not have decent leaders. None in sight.
Interestingly, so many of us cherish the bible, yet cannot seem to be able to read and comprehend a bit of it.
How does a rich man get to heaven? The same way as a camel gets through the eye of the needle. And, let's just pretend we don't understand all the other biblical "obligations" to our brothers and sisters. But, our money grubbing pastors don't seem to mind, do they?
In my estimation, we have a national IQ way, way below average, and a national maturity level of a 6 year old. There is not one national problem that can be solved under these conditions. Not one.

You are right. Thanks for speaking up.

Any politician who criticizes another politician for the PMH failure should be ousted, and barred from ever holding office again. The ruling class of this nation has failed. Utterly failed.
Davis and Minnis are both in this category.

Sadly, Ms. Thompson speaks the truth.
Like most truths in this country, albeit abounding in utter failures of the State, few have the intellect or honesty to admit them.
Thompson is exactly on point as to the failures at hand.
Our government is dysfunctional, propped up by absolute ignorance of the majority.
Anyone who spends time in Nassau, and comes away without holding their nose has simply given up on the idea that humanity has a chance of improving.

Why does a small country like The Bahamas need to pay 7 people to be in Haiti in the first place?
Why do most Bahamians I know much prefer to hire Haitians rather than their fellow Bahamians?
This is true, isn't it?
Why are we bashing Haiti when even a cursory look at out own statistics show quite clearly we are a failed country of the brink of what our own PM calls refugees?
Please, someone like godspeed, show me where The Bahamas excels? Show me one instance of where our own leaders give a hint of actual evidence of where they are looking out for the Bahamian people.
You can't.
The Bahamas is living on borrowed time and money.
Anyone standing up to claim otherwise is supremely ignorant.
Yes, godspeed, that's you.
