Better yet, to use the resources we have, instead of being held hostage to big oil. Of course, you don't appear to be scientifically literate, or seem to care about the welfare of the Bahamian people. It is now beyond politics and money, but some of us don't seem to be able to think outside the box.
And to think of all the stress and costs associated for Bahamians who have to dance through the Know Your Client crap to get $10k wired to them. All the while, this joker moves around millions and billions of dollars like nothing. Makes you wonder, is there is justice anywhere? Or, just for the rich? We'll watch the same two tiered justice system work here when the rest of the crap hits the fan.
Sorry Kevin, You are wrong in your analysis of Biden. Far left? You kidding me? I am far left. Just like Jesus would be. Biden supports the military expenditure of nearly a trillion dollars a year. Perhaps the most unChristian spending on the planet. Biden is worlds better than Trump, but no Christian. How did you, Kevin, get so influenced by the political theater and not stick to Christ's teachings. Biden, far left agenda? Really Kevin!
"Belinda Wilson, president of both the Bahamas National Alliance Trade Union Congress and Bahamas Union of Teachers, shouted: “When you write, when you email, when you call, you’re ignored so we have to come to you.”" She is absolutely correct. Having written hundreds of letters and emails to government officials, it is a rare occasion indeed when anyone has the professionalism, or courtesy to respond. It is quite clear that the majority of our government workers, elected and un-elected, simply don't care. They simply don't care. They've got theirs. To hell with the rest.
Has Mr. Halkitis ever owned and operated a business? Does he really understand economics? Does he realize that his taxation ideology contributes greatly to the demise of our country's economic prosperity? Why does Finance seem clueless on these matters?
This is not an Eleuthera problem. This is a national failure. Think about all the things, and people our politicians are chasing around the world and they cannot even provide the very basics for our survival. If I were king, I would fire the entire lot, PLP and FNM both. Find some managers who have been trained to get things done. Go anywhere,to find these people, for the sake of the Bahamian citizens. Clearly, the present "leaders" we have today are incapable of solving problems. Start with Finance.
How much do we pay people to go around checking prices in the stores? Why don't these brilliant and Christian politicians simply save that money, purchase these staples themselves, and hand them out to the poor. I simply don't believe there are any politicians in The Bahamas that understand free markets, nor do they seem to understand what poverty means. Who, honestly do these people work for? I get tired of these politicians dictating to those who pay their salaries. I understand democracy fairly well. I am beginning to think fewer and fewer of these politicians really get it.
Rather interesting analysis. It is a shame we find it difficult to treat fairly those who help us, yet seemingly always side with those who have a scam going. Both BahaMar and FTX show exactly who our government works for. The only things The Bahamas lacks are honesty and leadership.
You are right, Lamplighter. You said, "For one thing, Bahamians want to know if their government exercised good judgment in this matter, " How old are you? In your lifetime, can you tell me how many times the Bahamian government exercised good judgement? We already know the answer to that one. All the rest of your comments are on point.
