praying for "life and financial well being" seems a little weird to me. If you want financial well being in your country, government taxation policies could be changed, such that the vast bulk of wealth doesn't end up in a few people's hands. Is this such a novel idea? The idea that the majority of taxes raised in this country comes from the poor and working class is something that Jesus would have had no problem commenting on. Forgetting, or ignoring these essential Christian principles, now leaves us asking for nothing less than praying. Who should we be praying to, Sir Wilson? If it is your Christian god, certainly you missed the entire message. The Bahamas needs progressive taxation policies like an income tax, or a progressive real estate tax. I suspect you would be against these. And, I know why. But, it would not be because they were too Christian.
Thank you for your honest and accurate assessment here. This is painful to watch. The Minister of the Environment should resign or be replaced for his flippant and irresponsible remarks.
Having just returned, 10:48 Thursday March 12,2020, from our local NIB office in Andros, I can confirm that there is a shortage of NIB cards. Also, I went in to get my decal on my expired NIB card was told that my letter to authorize my renewal decal was not in yet, despite having been requested last week. This because the local office is not authorized to do this themselves. When I asked when I could get it, I was told try back next week Thursday. How many trips will I have to make to NIB to accomplish this seemingly simple task. Should it take me more than 5 minutes? Honestly! I am simply trying to renew my card so that I can register for Click2Clear. This is beyond sad. Any legitimate business owner, having an incompetent manager, ignorant of the realities in their department, or the willingness to lie to this paper, would be relieved of their duties immediately. There is not a business owner I know of who would risk their entire department due to the careless attitude Mrs. Virgil Rolle exhibits.
After doing some research, it is clear that Mrs. Virgil Rolle is not telling the truth. There are numerous stories of people being told by NIB employees that there IS a shortage of cards. Maybe Mrs. Virgil Rolle needs to have some communication with her employees. Our employees.
Insurance is an extractive business that is like many other businesses now. All about short term profits. Insurance companies make their money by denying health care, paying out less than they should and finding loopholes whereby they don't pat at all.
What percentage of our population owns stock? This is merely another opportunity to concentrate wealth upwards. No surprises, hey? There are other trends that one can watch, such as, the epidemic of species loss and the poisoning of the earth and of ourselves. Perhaps the market would respond favorably to us exporting the last remaining conch out of our waters, and onto the plate of a billionaire. The market responds favorably to hubris, lies and selfishness. Not so much to the provable diminution of the earth's life force, to social justice or to economic fairness. Which one is supposed to be about Christian values? How could we get what we say is important, so confused? Such as a livable planet for our kids. No, we prefer to commodify everything, and call it just.
