T Forbes, you have some of it right.
You may throw your weather history out the window, as most every scientist studying this issue has told us. Architects design and build based on the realities of history. However, the climate is in fact changing faster than even in human history. Do you not watch the news or read any science journals?
We are in a new era of change. A completely new way of thinking is required. This is an undisputed fact. If we do not have the education of grey matter to understand this, the responsible thing to do is to sit down and listen to those that do. Ask good questions, but try and understand the basics first.

Mr. Smith says, "On principle we ought to look at it [income tax] very carefully. If a country can survive on taxation without taking directly from its citizens or corporate entities, so be it."
Mr. Smith, do you think everyone is stupid? Your fellow Bahamian citizens are pummeled and ground down by the true taxes we pay in this country. Are you suggesting that nobody has a more fair and Christian way of raising the money to run a government? The inefficient, corrupt and bloated government of self serving thugs in The Bahamas is not advocating for fairness. They want things to stay the same.
They claim they want "sovereignty" for the country. Nonsense! They want to be able to continue to use the Bahamian people as slaves so as to attract the big money players from around the world to run their money through here tax free so that they, the smart financial people like Mr. Smith can work their magic and take home the lion's share of any benefits.
Mr. Smith is a danger to The Bahamas, while using the word neocolonialism as if he has the moral intelligence to actually understand what it means. Disgusting, absolutely disgusting.

**Proper planning prevents poor performance.**
Does every island have a hurricane shelter above 20' above sea level?
Are they built to code? Any code?
Do they have adequate water, and other necessities?
I haven't heard a word from government about this.
Isn't this part of planning?
When you are always running late, always behind on paying your bills, it is likely that too much attention is paid looking over your shoulder instead of looking forward.
Is this a fair representation of The Bahamian situation?
It seems very fair to say that we just don't plan, we mostly react.
This is a national problem.
Hurricane season is around the corner, yet what is proactively done to plan for the coming next storm?
We pray it goes somewhere else. Then, hold our hands out waiting for others to come to our aid. It gets very tiring. Especially to those who actually plan ahead and then are beggared for their scarce resources by those who refuse to look a week ahead.
And then, you are called unChristian for wanting to protect and help YOUR family first, before helping others who failed to prepare. Yes, this prevailing attitude gets tiring indeed..

I think this was sent to the comics section.
Isn't most of what Mr. Evans writes a bit jokey?

Mr. Turnquest said, "While national resources remain “significantly” less than what is needed, the deputy prime minister reiterated that there will be no new taxes and no increase of existing levies to cover costs associated with the damage done by Dorian."
He didn't say they wouldn't raise taxes. He said they wouldn't do it to cover Dorian's costs. Just like when they said they opposed VAT, yet raised it by 60% once in office. There is no way sustain deficit borrowing and not raise taxes to cover the corruption, inefficiency, mismanagement and bumbling that goes along with it. You're right about their ineptness and lack of honesty.
