We simply don't care. We simply don't care. The3 corruption and dishonesty at the highest levels of government, the police and our churches have permeated every aspect of our lives and our nation. "I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men. We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Governments in the civilized world no longer a Government by free opinion, no longer a Government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." -Woodrow Wilson
Business and investment is based on trust. Yes? If one looks closely at the Bahamian government and our nation as a whole one sees a veritable lack of trust and an abundance of dishonesty. A sane person, with a lifetime of experience would never take risks with their money in The Bahamas. This is simple due diligence. Bankers get far too much credit for their role in any economy. Bankers produce nothing, Finance and banking fees take far too much money out of any economy. Anyone who has studied these issues understands that the whole banking system in the west today was designed and implemented under dishonest and coercive political conditions.

The daily papers in this country exhibit clearly the reasons why reasonable people do not invest here. Our government officials are ignorant, petty, uneducated and vindictive. Our process to open a business, a bank account or anything else in this country is Pay to Play and utterly inefficient. Worse, Nobody seems to care. If someone, say for instance a Prime Minister, did care, how come it is still in shambles? Mr. Bowe, according to the World Bank Ease of Doing Business reports, how is The Bahamas doing? It is one thing to recognize that we have excess liquidity in our nation, it is truly another to suggest that this country is business friendly, honest, and willing to assist those who would like to improve their condition. Time and again, our government officials prove that they a short term political operatives who seek to squeeze out more and more for their selfish little selves, by hook or crook. Until we improve our national business ethics and radically change our national moral code, it is a good bet to hold your money closely.
The government them are all the same group of greedy people. These no bid contracts for clinics that the Family Islands don't need and will likely never open are part of the proof that something is very, very fishy. Of course pay the doctors what they're worth. What exactly do our politicians make a year? For what?
Sad to see Charlie Harper's take on the tilt toward fascism that all paying attention can plainly see. Marco Rubio is standing against the world and common decency in continuing to support the embargo on Cuba. He is a very little man.
Ask Prime Minister Davis why his daughter is working as a doctor in the US. Why do we lose so many health care workers and doctors to North America? Is it because the US and Canada pays its health care workers and doctors so, so much better? When we have to bring in health care workers and doctors from Africa is quite something, hey? Pay a living wage and provide decent working conditions and maybe we wouldn't have such a health care brain drain in this country. How does our health minister sleep at night knowing what is going on in this country in PMH and our many Family Island clinics? It is truly a disgrace. It is a matter of priorities. This government wastes too much tax money. Nepotism, inefficiency, fraud, theft and no-bid contracts have drained The Bahamas of the money needed to provide the people of The Bahamas with decent and respectable health care. Time and again, all of our politicians have allowed this travesty of basic humanity to continue.

The complaints and realities about making people wait are universal. Our own people and people who see the outside world ALL agree. We have failed at getting things done in a timely manner. It is not that we take time to do due diligence or research. It is simply because we don't give a damn. We just don't care. This attitude can lead us nowhere. Our kids should leave these shores if we cannot do better for them.
