The government already knew about the downsizing as this was part of its agreement when CWC agreed to give Williams a temporary exec post. Can we quit with the BS already?
Journalistically, this headline is a reach regarding Miller's statement. Miller runs off at the mouth as a matter of course. When he said he may go somewhere else, he most probably meant he will go to someone other than Christie, not that he would go to another party; and I'm almost certain that when asked about this, that's exactly the type of explanation he will give. The desperation to sell papers these days seems to be rife with the headlines these papers are coming up with. The words "I may quit the PLP" never came out of Miller's mouth. "I may go somewhere else" is far too ambiguous a comment coming from the likes of Miller for the Tribune to draw the conclusion it did in its headline.
The media keeps repeating this error about the budget for repatriations for this fiscal year. The budget for 2013/2014 was $1.5 million and in 2014/2015 it was cut by $700,000 to only $500,000.
I would have said she should stick to preaching since they say she is an ordained minister or something, but she didn't even quote her Bible scripture in its proper context so maybe even the preaching gig is a fail? And then they say she is a lawyer. Which bar was she called to, The Bahamas Bar or a local sports bar? Her comments are just that sublime that I have to ask!
Boy this Minnis guy sure knows how to pick em. Did this lady really try to use the race card as an argument against the need for accountability and transparency in government? And did she really try to quote the Bible to justify not wanting to be accountable to the public? And did she really just tell the public to mind their own business about what public officials are doing with the money they earn either from the public or elsewhere? I swear you cannot make this stuff up if you tried. Given this lady's previous public comments since her appointment she seems to be a sublimely ignorant individual.
Since when does the government decide who can buy shares and be investors in what is supposed to be a private company? Christie believes everybody is plum dumb. When the government says "owned by the Bahamian people", that means owned by the government of The Bahamas on behalf of The Bahamian people, just as BEC is currently "owned by the Bahamian people" though individual Bahamians are not actual shareholders in the same.
