Is Dr. Minnis still renting his building to the government at the taxpayers' expense? That's several millions in taxpayer money and counting since before 2007.
All Dr. Minnis has been doing since his party was elected is touring government offices as though he is a foreign head of state, holding photo ops and making often impractical or unenforceable proclamations off the top of his head that he thinks will make him look good in the eyes of people. He is behaving as though he is still on the campaign trail and that he does not understand election season is over.
My friend, I don't think you realize just how much Dr. Minnis does not know about very many things as pertains to governance. I meantime agree with your comments on Turnquest.
> THE Government was yesterday said to be “very confident” it will raise the full $722 million borrowing target despite its ‘junk’ creditworthiness and the threat of more downgrades to come.
At the end of the day, this level of comfort is at the heart of why successive governments refuse to make necessary changes. As long as there is a bank or regional body willing to lend us money at terms the Bahamian people are never, ever informed about, our governments will simply go back again and again and bury us all. By the time we can no longer "comfortably" and "confidently" borrow, it would have long been over for us.
Agreed 100%. This is not the campaign trail. When the PLP did this very same thing back in 2012, the FNM quickly told them that you are in now, so fix it and stop blaming us. Now the shoe is on the other foot and the same old game is already being played.
They were certainly aware of the option to pass an interim budget. The option was not taken, I suppose because they figured it would be easy enough to simply blame the former government for every decision they are to make.
Sadly, Minnis is more lost than Turnquest is. And I fear that the FNM is allowing its huge majority in the House to cause them to already start to take liberties that ought not be taken.
