So, why are people behaving as if the spending increase is new information when this is clearly and plainly stated in the 2015/2016 Budget tabled in May of last year and passed in June of last year?
Meanwhile, why hasn't the Bahamian media done a single piece of investigation on this story? Someone sending you something on whatsapp and telling you to "say this" is not investigation, and there is much about this story that warrants actual journalism. All the Tribune did here was transcribe the Fox news report.
Anyone notice that once again, the Opposition has been unable on first response to dispel the deficit vs debt myth put forward by the government? The Bahamas is in such a poor state with the current sitting legislature.
Does anyone notice that the politicians who went out there to snatch glory on this issue have now all disappeared? Now the vendors are on their own as they were before. The Opposition has Constitutional place at the table to aid in bringing about resolutions but that is not why they were there. They were there to exploit a matter they did not even seem to fully grasp, and now they are gone until the next occasion to exploit, comes about.
When I said the Opposition in Parliament would sit right there and go along with sailing this flawed Bill through I was asked where is my proof of what I believed. The proof is in the vote.
So this report essentially rationalizes the need for more foreign workers while at the same time providing no tangible solutions to the core problems raised. Good job.
