Let the FNM keep playing with Long Island. Long Island is the only island that has shown the leader of the Party they support better than they could tell him. When Ingraham tried to force his pick on Long Island, they told him if you send that man, we will send Larry Cartwright as our Independent MP. Ingraham felt that they simply should have listened to him and fell in line. Well they showed him the line and sent Larry to Parliament, just as they said they would. The truth is, these political parties are less interested in the will of the people and more interested in getting their own will accomplished. They say they respect the will of the people but that is not altogether true.
The Tribune, Butler Turner or both, must think people are stupid. If the Tribune was truly given this email without Butler Turner's knowledge, she would have likely been furious wanting to know how they got a hold of a private communication not addressed to them. Instead, a canned comment from her is reported, as if she was speaking on a matter that did not materially arise from her own communication given to the press, supposedly without her consent or knowledge. This is clearly staged and the game is pretty old. And Minnis' paid propaganda in tabloids and elsewhere is pretty old. And this entire charade called Bahamian politics is pretty old.
Why do you assume I am assuming? As for your assumptions, the Tribune said no such thing about going to her and her refusing to speak. This is a newspaper. If they sought comment from her and she declined they would be journalistically bound to say that. You are actually the one who is assuming facts not in evidence.
As for what is alleged to be going on as stated in the email; did you read me challenging the veracity thereof one way or the other, or did you read me clearly saying that since things are this dysfunctional, think about leaving these miscreants to their illgotten devices? Whether she stays or goes is of no consequence to me. But if you are going to stay, then deal with your internal party matters internally. Otherwise, leave and do with yourself what you will externally.
I take your point. Many systemic and cultural factors play into why our politicians conduct themselves the way they do. Age is a universal dynamic and reality, but it does not necessarily - from a purely mental and intellectual position - have a direct causative impact on the effectiveness of one's leadership. You can be a hugely effective leader over 60 or you can be a hugely effective leader in your 40s - it all depends. And that only pertains to who you are intrinsically. Then comes the system in which you have to operate...
Actually, ageism, as you are advocating is not "plain and simple". Many of their current persons who fall into the age group you mention are some of the most regressive people you would ever want to come across. I get the general apparent point about youth. I'm simply pointing out that youth is no guarantee of innovation. We need to evaluate people by the totality of what they bring to the table, not primarily by their date of birth.
To hell with this government and their crimes against the citizenry. I will not under any circumstances register for NHI. Leave me and my choice regarding healthcare, alone.
Here we go again. Minnis feeds things to the Punch and others and now Butler Turner or her camp is leaking her own emails to the press, all to accomplish what the general public could care less about - their internal party foolery. If your party is this reprehensible, leave. If they are not working to serve the nation's interests, leave. Why remain? If things are so bad that you have to resort to leaking your communications to the media for them to fight your battles for you, why are you still there? The individuals who penned this email for Butler Turner are only using her and it is unfortunate that she cannot see that. They do not want for her what she says she wants for herself in her organization. How is the nation benefiting by remaining among such a politically stagnant and effectively useless grouping? Has anyone even noticed that the FNM has absolutely no tangible presence in the civil discourse of this country now? They are consumed wholly and completely with themselves and have nothing to offer the nation by way of leadership or insight and direction on the nation's current standing. They do not provide the alternative the country needs and wants, which makes them traitorous at this point of the country's positioning.
