Thisis not the first case of this kind of invasion on Cable Beach last week. It has not appeared in any media, but two technicians here on short term work permits were subjected to similar attack and being held captive by two people.
The techs reported it to the police. Then they left the country!
May not be a good advertisement for tourism, but the people have a right to know what is happening, not just what the authorities want us to know.
Nassau actually needs an enforced long term plan, not these isolated attempts to change a city. Many other cities in the world have 10, 15 and even 20 year plans, but of course if the idea is not Bahamian then it will never be accepted.
This plan seems to be aimed at a small but wealthy market of people with either boats or chauffeurs. It might work, but Blu certainly did not last long in that location.
By the way 49% of these profits go to the Bahamian Government and hopefully back to the people that elected the government.
If the vendors are to get 30-50% profit for standing beside road or ringing up the sale on a cask register, then the price to the consumer will have to go up and the whole privatisation process was to bring prices down! If the vendors can get 30-50% then why should BTC not get a similar mark up? After all it is their financial risk.
By the way have there been many comments by Digicel recently that would indicate that they are "chomping at the bit"? Not really, so the most likely competitor is Cable Bahamas and we all know their record recently.
Five new fire trucks suddenly magically become six (only in the Bahamas)! Two go to GB and
........."We will be placing a fire truck in each of the major communities, one in Cable Beach, one South Beach, one Elizabeth Estates and the other one will remain in headquarters"................
So he wants the foreigners to help, but will not give them the necessary work permits, just send money!
The PM does not want his "rejects" repatriated after they have broken the laws in their country of choice, and yet the government repatriates large numbers of people to their home countries that cannot give them a decent way of life

I do not see the murder/crime statistics going down in either Trinidad or Barbados. Maybe capital punishment is not the deterrent people think it is.
