Amazing that for all of his years in active politics, no one can identify in their 'accolades' anything he accomplished as a politician for the betterment of the Bahamian people....no signature piece of legislation sponsored by him or cause passionately promoted by him as a cabinet minister for the well being of the people....nadda....almost surreal.
Now that I know I don't need an approved contract with the government in order to get my bills paid for goods and services I provided to various government departments and agencies over the years, please tell me where I should have my bills, totaling approximately $10 million, delivered by hand for settlement. These bills should now be considered seriously delinquent and paid forthwith by the new government consistent with its great desire to ensure that all bills relating to goods and services purportedly provided to the last government get paid without any further undue delay. Thank you.
Minnis has better get a good grip on himself. He seems to be developing what's commonly known as the "saviour complex", which is a type of syndrome that typically afflicts weak minded individuals who become too overwhelmed by their new leadership position and the power that comes with it. Someone must whisper in Minnis's ear that he was not elected to save the souls of greedy corrupt senior officials in the last government, but rather to hold them accountable and responsible for any serious crimes they may have committed through the abuse of their public office and the public trust.
@OldFort2012 - See my earlier reply above to @Truism's comment. Surely you're not supportive of the usurpation of our country's sovereignty by a foreign power by means of engaging in corrupt activities with senior officials of our last government, including Christie himself. The fleecing of Sarkis/Baha Mar was all along an integral part of Red China's plan to usurp the sovereignty of the Bahamas. And to think that evil wicked greedy witch, Allyson Maynard-Gibson, had the audacity to raise concern about our sovereignty as one of the reasons why Sarkis/Baha Mar was not allowed by the last government to pursue the Delaware re-organization that would have made the development a financially viable resort with its doors being fully opened much sooner rather than much much later, if ever.
It sounds very much like the usurpation of our country's sovereignty by a foreign power by means of engaging in corrupt activities with senior officials of our last government, including Christie himself.
@Truism - You have it all wrong my friend. In a nutshell corrupt Chinese senior officials at the CEXIMB and CCA, working in cahoots with corrupt senior officials in our last government, including Christie himself, wrongfully stripped property rights from Sarkis/Baha Mar through an illegally contrived foreclosure event designed to bilk a billion dollar equity stake from the original developer.
For too long U.S. foreign policy has been penny wise and pound foolish towards the Bahamas thereby leaving the door open to Red China only a few miles away from the Florida coastline. U.S. Embassy Officials in The Bahamas have been derelict in their duties for many years and what has been a most annoying situation for the State Department could quickly take on a whole new dimension that would leave President Trump shaking his head in disbelief and anger.
Wrongful, financially harmful and illegal transactions born out of fraud, bribery, corruption, etc. involving corrupt senior government officials (in Baha Mar's case, corrupt Chinese and Bahamian officials) are often unwound to the extent possible by Higher Courts as the only justifiable remedy in the circumstances. This is especially true in situations where lower courts have erred in major rulings that contributed to the financial harm caused by such transactions.
It is becoming increasing clear that Carl Bethel as AG seems more inclined to obstruct justice rather than ensure it is served. Minnis definitely needs to get a handle on this quickly. We, the people, were promised by Minnis that those senior officials in the last government who bear direct responsibility for the **P**illaging, **L**ooting and **P**lundering of our nation's financial resources through the abuse of their public office and the public trust will be held accountable under the rule of law and to the full extent of the law for their crimes.
