This woman was unfortunately failed by serious shortcomings in her legal representation. Her un-checkered past and the severe abuses she endured from her husband over many years were not properly presented in court for the jurors to consider before their verdict. She was made to succumb to rookie type legal mistakes that sadly happen all too often in our legal system, especially for individuals with no prior criminal record.
Christie is also very concerned that his grave transgressions will be revealed if he steps down as leader. A Commission of Inquiry in the post-Christie era that properly follows and investigates the money trail behind the unjust enrichment of Christie, certain of his family members and his close circle of elitist political friends and business cronies, would tell all. Watch out Baltron "Bagman" Bethel!
Why should we spend more at home when the muck-a-mucks like the former Chief Justice of our Supreme Court (who is now sucking a generous pension out of our Public Treasury) gets to fly to Miami and rent a large van to hold all of the many bags of goodies his family purchased abroad for much less than they would have paid here in the Bahamas?! We have rights too, not just the muck-a-mucks like Barnett who are living off of the onerous taxes and fees imposed on all honest hardworking Bahamian taxpayers who struggle daily to make ends meet.
This is the point that must resonate with Bahamian voters. Minnis has shown time and time again his willingness to associate and cut deals with just about anyone who he believes will help further his political ambition, e.g. Reward Wells, Bobo & Toggie (deliverers of fresh fish), Leslie "Woman Slapper" Miller, Craig Flowers, Sebas Bastian, etc. Minnis has told the numbers' bosses they should hedge their bets by throwing campaign money his way and funding the upcoming convention. Minnis is prepared cozy up to Lucifer himself in order to satisfy his great appetite for political power as a tool for obtaining the additional personal wealth he craves so much. This man Minnis is ruthless and as such presents an unprecedented danger to all honest hard working Bahamian taxpayers!
Hogfish, you may find this difficult to believe, but Minnis is infinitely worse than Christie or the pudgy one with the short stubby grubby dirty yellow sticky fingers could ever be. You obviously are not personally acquainted with Minnis.
You just don't get it John. Minnis is trying to tap into the pocket books of the hard working honest Bahamian taxpayers in an even bigger way than Christie has to date. He is therefore not about to spend from his own pocket book to satisfy the great power and additional wealth that he craves like no other. Minnis is a very dangerous fella and the sooner you become personally acquainted with him to appreciate that fact, the better.
Correction: Matthew Mitchell actually stole $1 million plus from one or more of Chemical Bank's clients and it was the feisty American, Gary Cox, the managing director of Chemical Bank at the time, who had the balls to spit in the face of Fweddy Boy when he suggested it would be unwise for Chemical Bank to prosecute his brother Matthew. Matthew would have served much more time in Fox Hill Prison had Christie through his puppet attorney general not wrongfully shortened his original sentence!
