@ bahamian242. I am always amazed at how many people like you cannot comprehend what they read. What part of "blue-collar" jobs do you find difficult to understand?

Non-essential, low skilled, ex-pats should not be allowed to have work permits. Those jobs should be strictly reserved for Bahamian low skilled workers.

Try getting a domestic work permit for a Bahamian in the Phillapeans and you will be unpleasantly surprised to discover it is impossible to obtain! So why should we allow ex-pats to come from other countries to take jobs Bahamians can do when those same countries absolutely refuse to reciprocate in kind?

Time To Get Tough On Work Permits'? You think? Regardless of where I travel in Nassau, every time I turn around, I bump into Haitians and Filipinos doing low skilled jobs Bahamians should be doing.

Nassau is infested with Haitians and Filipinos, while Bahamians are left literally killing each other hustling a living on the streets!

Successive governments are equally responsible for failing to educate our people, then abandoning them like garbage to fend for themselves.

Although not perfect, I support this initiative 100%. something has to done to rectify the decades' old idiotic ex-pat open-door policy that is turning our people into criminals for survival.

No other country in the world abandoned its own people as the Bahamas has. Regardless of circumstances, countries fiercely protect jobs for their citizens. Try applying for a work permit for a Bahamian blue-collar worker in Haiti, Jamaica, Philippines, Latin America, Asia, Africa, or anywhere else these ex-pats come from and you will find it is impossible to get one!

If successive governments actually knew anything about tourism the Bahamas would be running neck and neck with Orlando!

The P3 Groups' offer is our opportunity to create a fun, sun, tourist destination that rivals Florida.

We will soon see if Dr. Minnis has what it takes to grab this magnificent bull by the horn and use this company to create a more competitive, sustainable tourism product.

Exactly! The bay street and sunshine boys are holding the "majority" hostage. So-called "majority rule" is a myth that needs to be dispelled so that a conversation can be started leading to a real equitable distribution of wealth!

Granted, what you said is all true. However, my "point" is that unemployment and lack of opportunity for citizens are the root causes of crime in the Bahamians!

We need a government with enough backbone to reverse the ex-pat open door policy which deprives our people of jobs and business opportunities.

Another out of touch political party. How could so-called intelligent, educated, people, be so dam dense that they can't simply look at where we came from to figure out how we got where we are now?

Prior to dumb Pindling, dumber Ingraham, and dumbest Christie, the Bahamas enjoyed over employment, Bahamians all had two or in some cases three jobs, there was no crime to speak of, and we never thought about locking our doors or partying until sunrise. Murders were something we heard about in the U.S. or other countries. On the very odd occasion, if there was a murder in the Bahamas, everybody went into deep shock!

Pindling, Ingraham, and Christie, with all their combined wisdom, decided we needed more people to build the country and opened the floodgates for Haitians and anybody else to come in and take jobs away from Bahamians.

The 3 stooges were so busy enriching bay street boys, sunshine boys, friends, family, lovers, and living high on the hog on peoples' backs, they never considered they had to actually educate the masses, and grow the economy commensurate with the massive false per capita population boom.

The 3 stooges abandoned the people they failed to educate, internationally labeled them as "D" average illiterates, and encouraged better-educated ex-pats from anywhere to come in and take jobs and entire sectors of the economy away from Bahamians. Over decades of this imbalance, Bahamians grew poorer and poorer, people began to despair, unable to find alternate means of survival, in desperation, they began turning to crime.

Bahamians now find themselves, unemployed, hopeless, with nowhere to turn for survival and supporting families other than "hustling" a living on the streets. As with any "job", the proper tools are essential. To hustle on the streets the required "tools" are guns and knives,
resulting in the present crime wave, caused by the undeniable result of 50 years of failed governance!

The only solution to crime is to reverse the open door ex-pat policy, allow our people to get back to work, and give them the opportunity to earn a living.

It would be interesting to know how many of these cases are nothing more than nuisance minor drug possession charges.

WTF? This woman cannot be serious! Ms. Hanna Martin couldn't find her voice to condemn police brutality when the PLP had police body-slamming people to the ground and stomped on the Paradise Island bridge during the Cabbage Beach vendor fiasco!

These stupid politicians continue making fools of themselves by believing their own nonsense that Bahamians have short memories.

SP says...

police Commissioner Anthony Ferguson is overflowing with mushy-green-poo! Police brutality and torture of civilians has always been a well-known norm in the Bahamas. The video will have absolutely no effective change in the deep culture of police brutality.

Pindling, Ingraham, Christie, and Minnis, administrations 100% condoned police brutality and cannot escape the consequences and negative connotations that have now surfaced due to the video!
