OMG! Good thing this guy was caught! I had no idea we had heroin users. We don't need to add heroin addiction to the mess we already have in this country.
The easiest solution to calming everyone's fears would be for deputy Prime Minister K Peter Turnquest to simply bring in a few leaders and business owners from other countries in the region that can show and explain the benefits they enjoyed by joining the WTO!
Blah, blah, blah, blah. The reality is Junkanoo continues to be a money-losing "organized chaotic" affair!
Successive governments fail to see the enormous added value of Junkanoo evolving into a week-long festival similar to aspects of Carnival complete with crowd & tourist participation.
There should be fun events, local and billboard concerts, road rages etc' from Boxing Day through to New Years Day parades.
It is totally asinine to waste over 7 months of preparation just for an 8-hour parade that adds virtually nothing to the tourism product, AND doesn't make any money!
This is a simple, straightforward, easy to do, no-brainer that all the "veteran geniuses" in tourism including the minister are too thick to comprehend. What a total waste of a huge opportunity for the country and overall tourism product!
Arawak Cay Fish Fry - a major hub where tourists can experience what its like to interact with Haitians!
It is somewhat difficult to find Bahamian vendors at Arawak Cay fish fry. Haitian Creole is the predominant language spoken among vendors so exactly what culture is the tourist experiencing?
I don't know if the Captain of the ship has genuine reasons for warning his passengers to avoid Arawak Cay, however, personally I avoid Arawak Cay like the plague. If on the odd occasion someone wants conch salad or local food, there very few options to choose from without being bombarded with Creole.
What happened to all the "talk" about getting rid of the Haitian influence at Arawak Cay?
If they had listened to Hubert Alexander Ingraham reasoning that Nassau tourism product couldn't support another Atlantis-sized resort, Baha Mar would never have been built!
It never ceases to amaze me how politicians that are supposed to be working in the best interest of our country and people will say and do anything for special interest groups regardless if it damages the country and destroys our people.
A simple look at resort densities in Vegas or Hawaii was all it took to understand Hubert Ingraham was either more ignorant than a jelly coconut, or singing a tune for Atlantis special interest group.
Thank GOD nobody listened to Ingrahams' stupidity, and that he and his partner Christie are no longer relevant....AMEN!!
For once I agree with a Paul Maynard statement: “It’s a miracle we get through the summer.”
With the Islands main power plant at Cliffton Pier out of service and Blue Hills station overburdened pulling the slack, this Island-wide power outage is an inevitable tip of the iceberg of what is most definitely on the horizon and with many more soon to come!
Anyone ignorant enough to believe that BPL can reliably supply power to the Island for sustained periods with the islands main power plant off-grid needs to have their heads examined.
The only real surprise here is that BPL is still in operation at all!!!
WTH? What a crock of absolute steaming horse manure! Darren Henfield is an idiot if he really believes for a nanosecond that the Dominicans will give up a multi-billion dollar seafood for export and consumption poaching operation!
After decades of PLP & FNM stupidity, the Bahamas finally got the damn Dominican governments attention, and all it took was some relative common sense penalties! Enough useless "dialog" with these people, talking to them proved useless.
All they understand is fines and prison so let us keep doing it.
Now we need to turn up the pressure by increasing fines, prison terms, immediately sinking their vessels at sea, confiscating equipment we could use ourselves, so these thieves finally get the message to stay out of our waters.
No more "talks" with these people! We need to treat them like the Cubans treat them, and forcefully exercise or right of possession. Lock their ass's up, impose heavy fines, confiscate and sink their equipment, and give them extended vacations in the worst part of Fox Hill Prison imaginable.
After decades of playing the "nice neighbor" and getting what the duck got with no vaseline or KY jelly, it is time for action.
