Costs associated with these audits is irrelevant. The Minnis administration has no choice with auditing government departments if they expect to get a handle on where the country is financially and enable them to make necessary corrections and plot the way forward.
Everyone knows great wastage and pilferage of government resources has been out of control for decades. Auditing the government is way past due. It will identify and allow the elimination of decades of systemic corruption and piracy. They will discover plenty people that need to go to prison.
Unfortunately, there was no mention of auditing the office of prime minister which is most accountable, where all the problems originate due to poor, inept management of the countries affairs!
How the hell can 300,000 Bahamians survive against 10M Haitians looking to move here? It is the equivalent of trying to pack a whale in a can of tuna!
The only possible result will be the extermination of Bahamians as Haitians will also want citizenship and political participation in their "new country" and THAT is totally unacceptable.

"Public finances" is not the issue. Keeping capital circulating in the local economy versus flight of capital "out" of the economy is the question.
This is a very simple equation. When a Bahamian is paid on Friday, he is broke by the following Tuesday having spent all of his earnings locally stimulating various sectors of the economy. Compared to when a work permit holder is paid on Friday he repatriates large portions of his earnings to home countries stimulating foreign economies.
We cannot expect the Bahamian economy to "flourish" when spend is constantly eroded by repatriations!
Why are we "regularizing" people that entered the country illegally regardless of when, and why in GOD'S name are we giving citizenships to people that have proven to have absolutely no allegiance to our country?

The dilemma is not that Bahamians hate Haitians as a people. We feel your pain and see your anguish, however, Bahamians and the Bahamas simply can no longer sustain the Haitian invasion and survive ourselves!
