I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Benjamin Simmons sentiments. Harbour Island tourism product is not compatible with cruise tourism.
The biggest surprise is that the government cannot understand the equation. Crystal cruises' one-million-dollar clientele are totally out of their league with the average Harbour Island tourist.
Unfortunately, as usual, the government will roll over to the cruise industry regardless of short & long-term negative impacts to the Bahamas.
This is a classic example of why the Bahamas has become a mediocre sun-resort destination with inadequate excursions and tours. The government is too busy kissing ass to see the bigger picture of where we should be heading and what we should be doing, and too pigheaded to listen to people with decades of hands-on experience.
Five decades of the collaborative across the aisle political corruption and nepotism have finally come full circle to bite the government squarely in the arse.
The government will now invest more millions prostituting the country in favor of the cruise industry, which will vanish immediately after the U.S. gives them the green light to operate from Florida again.
Minister Dionisio D’Aguilar, is 100% right not to allow himself to be bullied or intimidated into meeting with this Leigh Rodney clown!
Rodney cannot demand meetings with Cabinet ministers in his own home country. What makes him think he can do so here?
It is even more disgusting that our own fellow Bahamians readily side with this biggety, blackmailing, foreigner rather than Mr. D'Aguilar!
This man is a classic example of the type of individual we do not want in our country regardless of his net worth or investment potential. We cannot allow people to enslave us for their money.
All successive administrations are well known for prostituting themselves and encouraging this type of nonsense from wealthy foreigners. This is also a good lesson for the government to stop selling everything out to foreigners!
Mr. Leigh Rodney can either learn to behave like a civilized "guest" in our country or he can carry his backside somewhere else! We survived without him before and will survive without him long after he's gone.
