Being gay and having "relations" between two male adults or female adults is based on "mutual consent." Comparing that to a pedophile is not an apples to apples comparison. As you know, there isn't and can't be "mutual consent" between an adult and a child. And that is the primary issue with a pedophile. So no, I will NEVER support, nor should any rational adult, pedophiles. But, I will 100% support two male adults that truly love each other, respect each other, and have a relationship built on mutual consent.
Being gay isn't a choice. It's no different than being born with red hair vs blonde hair. You are simply born that way and have NO control over it.
If I was born with red hair and at some point wished I was a blonde... there is NO way for my head to change and start generating blonde hair. It simply isn't biologically possible. The same with being gay. It I wake up one day as a gay man and then all of the sudden decide today is the day I'm going to lust after women -- it won't happen. It's not biologically possible.
Listen... the Bible was written thousands of years ago. My two teenagers at this very moment have more education and knowledge than the folks that wrote the Bible. In the vast amount of time that has passed since the Bible was written, some of us have actually evolved and matured and gained incredible amounts of knowledge. Yes, some of the things in the Bible are still relevant today and make perfect sense. Yet, many of the things in the Bible are simply unrealistic, based on fear or sheer stupidity.
This is why it is critical to have a clear separation of Church and State. The personal religious or non-religious beliefs of any member of the Government is completely irrelevant. What is more relevant is their education, character, prior success or failures at being a leader and government official, etc. Anytime someone uses religion or the lack of religion in this fashion (such as the Speaker of the House did) comes across as moving society and mankind "backwards." Haven't we evolved as a species and society? Or, are we no different from prior generations going back thousands of years?
Excellent editorial. Very well researched and written. There is no way in hell this ship or any other cruise ship should be allowed near Spanish Wells or Harbour Island. Where's the oversight from the Bahamian Government? These companies appear to be allowed to run amok throughout all of the Bahamas without any recourse or oversight.
