Pastors should be telling the menfolk in their congregations that if a wife says "not tonight dear", then it means "not tonight dear" and follow the Golden Rule. If this happened and the menfolk complied then we wouldn't even be talking about it.
Using the Canadian model in the Bahamas would be the greatest single boost to tourism in the last 50 years. The fear that Bahamians will get high and "bang on de drum all day" is baloney. It hasn't happened anywhere recreational use is legal. But carry on. Keep on arresting your own citizens for doing something that hurts nobody.
Yes, But look what happened in Canada! Cannabis was legalized there and, for the most part, people treat each other with dignity and respect. We can't have that!!
A missing point is that there are a large number of people willing to pay these taxes or user fees or whatever they are called because of the very positive things the Bahamas offers as a vacation destination. These positive things should be magnified and promoted so that more tourist revenue can be generated and re-invested. Then, over time, as debt is paid down, the user fees can be reduced.
While I hope you are right, the Canadian navy is quite old and maintained only by the can-do spirit of the personnel, and, I'm at a loss to understand how parking an aging naval vessel in port is going to stop gun-related shenanigans a few blocks away.
