Ask your people how much money government has brought in on gas tax and then see how much they spend on road works. I'm sure there is a huge unexplained gap. And then check people's home safes and personal undeclared foreign bank accounts.
Why doesn't the government have the dealer's mark-up based on a percentage just like theirs is? Or have a fixed rate for both the government and the dealers. Pretty simple really. No need to have one way for government and one way for its citizens.
I'm sure some politician will suddenly have a fleet of new mailboats that are the only boats with the safety requirements RCI demand. Fitzgerald probably already secured that contract.
I agree that governments do need money for hospitals, schools and roads but unfortunately no significant amount of money ever makes it to ANY of those things. The money goes to bloated civil service salaries, bloated contracts and bloated personal safes.
PLP want it all for themselves. This how Haiti started to tumble to disgrace. First you get rid of the middle class. Once you're left with 99% of the population being dependent on government and just a handful of super rich, then you focus on kickbacks with the threat that the wealthy will be allowed to stay in business. What power does a government have if most of the population doesn't need them?
If we are going to be taxed like the US then why don't we become part of the US? No sense paying high taxes and let a few dozen political cronies use it for their personal benefit, when we can get the weight and oversight of a not so perfect system... but a superior system to our own. The major benefit will be that hopefully the undereducated and lazy masses will flock to the US and we will have quiet roads and less bums to take care of locally. Another benefit would be the US police coming in and removing the thousands of gang slime that end up oozing their blood and brain matter over our streets and in bushes and parked cars.

Any idea where the toilet water is going to go? Deep wells? Piped into the harbour? Sewerage plant on site?
