Raising our prime rate will not help keep our demand low and thus lower inflation. A higher prime rate will only hurt our economy more.
The idea of raising interest rates is to make saving more attractive. But how many of us have more than a thousand dollars in our savings accounts? And how many of us don't live paycheck to paycheck us thus cannot even contemplate increasing the amount we save?
Unfortunately we may just have to ride out the high prices until the supply chain is fixed and international demand tapers off.

And why was power out again this morning? More lightning? Maybe wind? Maybe just lack of maintenance???

According to my friends in the US prices for new cars have gone up about $10k on average. Where before you could buy cars for a thousand or so below suggested retail value and now prices are about $10k above suggested retail.

Oh boy. Return on investment. where before they bought a tanker of fuel every month for say $10,000 and made $1,800 after selling all of it... now they need to buy that tanker of fuel for $23,000 and still only make that same $1,800. Understand now???

A fixed percentage is the most equitable for the retailers. they need to know that they'll get a % return on their investment in fuel. At the moment their return is constantly diminishing which is not fair at all. For anyone going into business. When gas was $3 a gallon they were making $0.54 a gallon - 18%. Now at $7 a gallon they are only making 7.7%. That's very difficult for any business to maintain.

Finally! It's amazing how long it takes government to react. I guess they need to get their cover stories straight and back dated documents in order before they pretend to do any enforcement.
