Because he plans on doing some illegal stuff with it. No other reason. I hope that they did ballistic tests as it may reveal some interesting history. But I'm sure that it was just ordered destroyed.
Isn't there a minimum fine and/or prison time for having an illegal firearm? Isn't there also one for each bullet? Let me guess, the law was changed? Some MP has the authority to determine the punishment? The prosecution (if there was even one) and the defendant came to some top secret plea deal? Knowing our system, this criminal probably walked away with a million dollars for the embarrassment of being named. And he's probably now promoted to the head of some gang and received a confirmed constituency in the next general election.
And just what will our government do with this windfall? Let me guess... travel more, hand out bigger no-bid/no-diligence contracts? We won't even see more road improvements, debt reduction or health-care facilities. The masses of average Bahamians will not benefit AT ALL!!!!
Mr. Davis is going to have to backtrack on this announcement as well, because in short order we will get more videos about cruise ships still warning their guests. This warning has been going on for years and will not stop anytime soon. They just may not put it on paper.
PLP and numbers just don't mix. And to think that Davis put himself in charge of accounting and reporting of the public purse? A fifth grader knows more math than him. I think they were all shocked when someone told them what the final percentage rate would be in 2044. And to be honest, when the writers of the actuarial report suggested an in crease of 1.5% every two years, I'm pretty sure they meant increasing the contribution rate by 1.5% not adding 1.5% to the rate. i.e. from 10% to 10.15% NOT from 10% to 11.5.
You people are so silly. They are not spending $2.5 million on an elevator. They are spending $500k on an elevator and $2 million on friends that will arrange for people to buy and install an elevator.
Why doesn't NIB try investing its money into products that generate income and do not lose value? That would help more than taxing the Bahamian people more.
