Given the current debt level and budget deficit, i doubt meeting makes any difference. In fact the strategy of former Minister of Finance Turnquest to address the debt level as i recall was to stop having lunch when the House meets.. so there you have it.

I really dobt understand the fuss about the money paid to the former Managing Director.. $150k for such a position is probably below market rates in this country. Housekeepers at Atlant8s take home over $50k p.a. all in for heaven's sake.

Socrates says...

Price control is a disincentive to competition and helps nobody.. look at the gas stations and banks.. all over town nut it really makes little difference where you go.. its a failed socialist idea..

Socrates says...

How does a project that was approved not be funded? How do you run 100%+ over budget? Minister talks about scholarships. For the 2-3 people who might get a break that way, you would be better off to just give them the money.. it wouldn’t come to $58 million. It’s just more evidence in case it’s needed, why 3rd world countries are 3rd world countries.

Why have a senate at all ? We should establish an absolute monarchy, have a King or Queen and that way eliminate Senate and Queen as head of State in one move. Have a council of advisors appointed by King to still be able to reward the lackies with perception of having a say.

Locking people down is a temporary solution. Best thing is to do nothing. Concerned folks will vaccinate and practice the recommended protocols.. the information and vaccine have been available long enough. Covid is here to stay, the sooner we learn to live our lives with it, the better off we will be.

Good luck to Fred.. i think we all know US citizens and residents have hassle-free access because it is in our interest to allow that for tourism purposes. The US has no such interest from this country. Nevertheless, thrre is the principle of reciprocity so Fred cpuld ask.

I'll wait to hear more but meanwhile, i find it curious that while an additional $1.0billion of debt is announced on top of an already high national debt, pension increases, promotions for govt workers and reductiob in VAT is also announced. That doesnt add up to me...

If costs go up, business has to pass it on. They are not a charity so why should they absorb it? We are such a society of socialists and always want something for nothing as long as someone else picks up the tab. Why not nationalize Freeport power and let BPL run it and give everyone free power if you really want to make an impact?
