No employee on any job should be subject to threats, intimidation or disrespectful behaviour. the matter should be investigated internally and addressed as required. As for Union threats to harm the national economy, the Minister of National Security has an obligation to investigate Maynard and his associates especially to see if they have any involvement in damaging events recently. they always amend labour laws for less hours and more pay. well if not already, a law must be put on the books to hold union leaders legally responsible for threats or actions intended to harm the economy. too much loose talk in this country.
hundreds of millions needed for BEC and Bahamasair who cant pay their bills without help, millions and millions for hotels on GB, WTO accession whatever that will bring, and the list goes on. i say, lets wait and see..
No brain people. firstly, the cables should all be on those posts on the side of the road. the water pipes should be either on the roadside or condition verified before paving. Finally, given the unbearable impact this will have on road users, one has to ask the obvious question, why cant this be done at night, say 10:00pm to 6:00am and on weekends? police, hospital, airport and hotel workers work those hours.. just typical, lazy, brain-dead, we dont give a s**it attitude..
Saudi Arabia is an extreme example of barbaric justice but one thing for sure, it works.. crime virtually non-existent.. so, what price to pay for safety and peace of mind?
these folks aren't silly... they know a sinking ship when they see it and they also know the best separation package they could ever hope for will come from a weak and gullible gov't. whatever happened to long established practices like redundancy and outright termination.
'significantly less' is gov't code talk meaning we won't do all that is required but we will say we did. a few years frm now, they will come to us and say oh, its worse than we were led to believe and we will have to now spend x dollars to repair. next thing is, we know in this country, estimates aren't worth the paper they are written on. look at the baseball stadium.
one can only wonder in shock and amazement at the appaling level of apathy when it concerns spending the people's money. nobody has a care or concern. how the hell can a project start at an estimate of $16m and now is north of $30m and still rising? who is responsible to manage these things? what is the role of the MOW building dept., and Min of Finance? where is the Auditor-General in all of this? we'll be like Venezuela and Zimbabwe yet... and sheeprunner is right.. who will stand for the people like Rollins used to do and bring these things to light and demand action and accountability?
this country must need to repent or someth8ng. every time you open the papers, you read about another 100 million dollar obligation on gov't, and by extension, we the taxpayers. i mean my god. all we need now is a hit by a Cat 5 storm and it will be game over... talk about frustration...
