in a country this size, its almost impossible to avoid doing business with someone who is a friend, family, party member, church or lodge brother, constituent etc. no matter where the PO finds itself eventually, there will be an issue i'm sure..
I can only say F me.. who will compensate those who bought ptoperty that declined in value or married the wrong person and got divorced, etc. where does gov't obligation end?
Minnis and FNM have a problem with these four closet PLPs.... he better deal with it because a house divided against itself cannot stand. if this group are so fundamentally opposed to their party, they should cross the floor or become independents but whatever the choice, stop masquerading like FNMs.. The nature of party politics is you support your party and workout conflicts internally..
whats scariest to me is the ever increasing level of taxation.. run-away VAT, now this, NIB contributions changing every few years, plus the unknown on gov't like BOB bailout, BEC bailout pending, Freeport hotel(s) acquisition, everlasting obligations for Bahamasair 100s of million dollar loans, etc., etc. we've gone from low taxation to snowball effect taxation... cost of business will continue to rise and so will inflation.. no free lunch but you have to wonder, based on past unfilfilled promises about what new taxes would do, what will be delivered with this..
you pay rent, you get a space.. simple business. America the great, the self-appointed global leader of political right and wrong, has the whole Trump family working in the white house, no problem. the Saudis send assassins to kill their citizens who speak against the ruling family, no problem.. a former Prime Minister's wife is GG of this country, no problem. the gov't rents from the PM for the hospital, no problem. The BAMSI building burned down in Andros costing us taxpayers millions. no problem..there is no wrong as such anymore. its all the new normal. we should get use to it.
Minnis really has some meaningless, shallow rebuttals to criticism.. he needs to be more convincing. what reasonable person would think that Minnis, who is not a Grand Bahamian and does not live there, is more concermed about the place than a man from there and who is living there. it defies logic.. When you are PM you need to give solid, evidence based arguments in my view when justifying gov't decisions and policies.
all of this could have been avoided if we had a functioning government... didn't pay property tax, no problem. gov't should have seized building and sold it to get their money. The Bahamas must be one of the slackest countries when it comes to collecting taxes. no wonder we are $7 billion + in debt and it keeps rising. makes me wonder why i pay mine..
so all over the Bahamas boats are licensed that may, or may not, meet any kind of standard. how does that happen? how can a boat be built and licensed for use if there exists no regulations regarding construction of boats in the first place? how is a boat that meets no standard insured or was it insured? if not insured, how does one get a tour business licence to use a boat built to no known standard? its all rubbish. Andros BAMSI all over again. sounds very similar to the local aviation scene too. what a mess we are in in this country...
poor Ace.. yet again, plenty talking but saying nothing. he couldn't say a single word that defends Archer's appointment, couldn't list his relevant training or experience,.... nothing. don't need to have a high IQ to figure out what happened...
