i have trouble believing this whole thing was cooked up to get Smith.. nothing special about him. if i was going to frame or trap someone, seems Fitzgerald would have been a better target. i believe where there is smoke there is fire or at least a source of heat. so, my take is police and AGs office botched this. what IS scary if true is the suggestion by the judge that the police manipulated the phone records to suggest a pattern of calls that never happened. if accurate, my blood crawls to think of how many ordinary innocent folks potentially could be in Fox Hill and conversely, how many guilty folks on the streets as a result of that same thing. I wonder if the magistrate grasped the significance of what she was suggesting in this,regard... it may be that a slew of cases need to be retried..
Isn't the reason for existence of a dock that it be used by boats? whats the difference between a mailboat (also private) using the dock, and these people? don't private airplane companies use public airports too? dont quite understand whats happening here but like i said, need more details..
I'll never understand why investigation reports conducted at any government owned corporation cannot be shared with us, the owners, the people of this Bahamas. we must carry the debt but not understand why the debt exists in the first place? something is wrong with that. This is not the CIA or some secret agency we're talking about.
in principle i cant agree with this revised contribution scheme.. if i need surgery and a low income worker needs the same operation, the cost is the same, so why should i pay more? you dont educate your kids so they become the donkeys for a society... The Bahamas all screwed up.. we go from so-called no tax to out of control taxation.
The Bahamas boxing out of its weight class on this. better to sit small and keep quiet. besides, wasn't the man elected? plenty folks in power on this planet who some say stole the election...
I share Chipman's frustration. The system does not work or at least gets no results.. either way, same thing. This is classic bahamas.. keep kicking issues down the road.. pkenty flowery speeches and talk.. just a lot of noise. the deep state Trump and his followers refer too is firmly entrenched in our system too. we need accountability, investigations, committees that function to give teeth to a system of checks and balances...
Another example of the 'hope and pray' doctrine.. would seem to me that if you watch Fox or CNN a couple years ago and noticed there was an event at a nuclear plant, and you knew your citizens were buying cars from that place but you have no system to test those cars to ensure no threat from radiation, a logical person who have said 'until such time that we can satisfy ourselves of the safety of these cars from this particular event, NO imports'...
The man is obviously a bonafide visitor, otherwise how did he get in the country? as for the other claims, let them (UK) present their case to court and courts will decide. no big deal.. world full of crooks, liars, murderers, etc. that he may be in the Bahamas means nothing.. The Saudi government holds other leaders hostage like they did the Lebanese prime minister and kill their own citizens.. north korea too.. our american friends kidnap world leaders like Noreaga, so bottom line as i see it is... he who is without sin....
This speaks volumes to the state of the economy. yes consumer purchasing habits have changed over the years and i'm sure most of the other issues mentioned play a part too, but reality is when businesses that have been established for decades like this one, the others mentioned and more, cannot survive any longer, it suggests there are major weaknesses in our economy.
