when you think about how we cant keep the power on consistently or keep traffic lights working, it frightens the hell out of me to wonder how we will respond if a leak or explosion occurs at this proposed place. seems we really need to decide if we really want to possibly put the GB tourism industry, water supply and environment at risk for what will be at the end of the day, if ever, an insignificant amount of jobs..

Butler is right. if a guy is doing 2 or 3 flights a day, every day, its hard for him to say he is flying friends.. but like everything in the Bahamas, we are good at talking but useless when it is time to act.

scary stuff indeed. all the folks with a level head being kicked out and replaced by fanatics and extremists.. recipe for disaster if the planets all line up.

If Doc has the authority to fire chipman, thats the end of it. no need to explain. i don't recall any explanation when the appointments were made, so no need to explain when u let them go. Look at America, which President in history has fired more people than Trump? wakeup Bahamas, this is the way it is. Get to grips with it.

there are certain jobs which by their nature cannot expect preferential pay just because their work days/hours differ from the most common Monday to Friday pattern. No society can function or progress if nurses, policemen, firemen, hotel workers, airline and airport staff, utility workers, etc. only work M-F and office hours. one needs to consider that before taking on those jobs. if that lifestyle is not for you, dont bother. but its irrational to say just because you work different hours or days of the week, you should get double or triple pay on the basis of that alone.

i hope when they start dishing out crown land to bahamians, they put a 'no sale' provision in the document. too many folks got crown land just to resell at a prince's sum. remember Exuma and the Lands and Survey man?

sheeprunner i like your perspective.. don't be discouraged..

Cartwright is correct, but problem is the southern islands have always been more or less irrelevant to the national economy and thats why they get no attention. suppose this was Abaco? whole different story. politicians only see votes and business people money.

Socrates says...

the costs are out of control because of overstaffing (Minister's words), airplanes too big and too expensive to operate for the amount of passengers traveling domestically, low market share internationally because it has no airline partners to feed passengers, equipment mismatched to routes flown (miami amd fort lauderdale aren't jet routes, too short), bloated staff costs inconsistent with a small, heavily subsidised and loss making operation, etc., etc. The question remains how much taxpayer money can a bankrupt gov't continue to throw into this bottomless pit called Bahamasair? It is wrong to suggest private operators would not touch thin domestic routes. you just cant do it against a subsidised operator flying superior equipment. Jamaica and Trinidad with larger populations, a significant diaspora in the US and no domestic service couldn't survive, so how much more that should apply to Bahamasair.

i agree, it may just be easier to say to europeans 'sorry, you can deposit money here or setup an IBC, etc.'..bye.
