Socrates says...

in a democratic society, politicians are supposed to be servants of the people and accountable. it is not enough for this poltician to simply say its not true. whatever the charge, he must provide evidence to substantiate his innocence otherwise it would reasonable to assume where there is smoke, there is fire...

what a show they made of us.. first they said choose option A or option B and either way we will consider you to be in compliance.. then later, no.. its only if you choose option A we will consider you in compliance.. since our first choice was option B, we were left scrambling to comply with option A.. we were played by OECD.. now they have let us know indirectly we should have at least 10% income tax.. watch out bahamas, its coming..

Socrates says...

Fred Mitchell is a 'graduate' of the Robert Mugabe school of political science.. he schooled in advanced courses in propaganda dissemination at none other than our own ZNS... in due course, he will be advocating for us to burn down and take by force businesses owned by non-bahamians.. this man is anti everything and everyone and still angry that Fox Hill voted him out..

Socrates says...

OECD and other 'big boys' are using the system, the one they created, to follow their people's money... apparently this global world is not global when it comes to money so they expect people to keep their money in their home country. its all utter BS about which nothing can be done... the losers are the little fries, like the Bahamas..

Socrates says...

Mitchell speaks as PLP chairman, the party that destroyed what could have been the most successful development in this country by foreigners, Freeport GB. there were issues that needed to be corrected with the Freeport model. but rather than addressing those issues, PLP decided it was just easier to destroy the entire project.. sort of like burning down your house for a roach problem instead of calling the exterminators... lot of good that did for bahamians in general and the people of GB inparticular...

Socrates says...

they keep saying we pay no taxes, but its just semantics... property tax, fuel surcharge, VAT, national insurance, etc. all the same.. NHI tax/surcharge? i think we need to brace ourselves to pay for even more including garbage collection, BPL and Bahamasair debt, etc. the Consolidated fund will be needed mostly to pay wages and pensions...

good to see Tiger back in the news because of golf.... despite how the current Minister feels about sports tourism, i wonder how much it would have cost if we had to pay for all the free publicity we are getting everytime a sports report on TV and in the print media mentions the word 'Bahamas'. of course if there was no Albany developed by these foreigners we dont want, none of this would happen..

Socrates says...

i have to agree with PLP on this.. it is bad enough that the PM doesn't know whats happening within his cabinet, but even worse if he were to admit it, hence the denials... as for FOIA, even when it becomes law, i'm certain that a public service that for decades perfected the art of ducking and dodging, will continue to frustrate requests for information, and likely you will have to go to court to force compliance each time a request is made, something most of us can't afford...

there are always folks who dont want to leave the premises when the party ends.. if they live in the real world, they must have figured the sweetness could not last forever.. you can't get what the man doesn't have...
